The launching ceremony was broadcast online to junior high schools, high schools, vocational colleges... with about 1.9 million students participating.
"You are never alone"
Launching the campaign, Colonel Bui Thanh Truc - Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Police - said that cyberspace brings opportunities for learning, entertainment, connection, and creativity. However, where there are opportunities, there are also traps. In fact, there have been cases of bad guys taking advantage of social networks to spread false information, impersonating authorities and teachers, and even creating "kidnapping" scenarios to defraud.
In this situation, Ho Chi Minh City Police launched the campaign "Not alone - Together online safety" with the message: in the online world , no one is alone. Safety is only true when we protect each other.
The campaign aims to raise awareness among students and the community about the sophisticated tricks of online kidnapping criminals. Equip them with skills to prevent, identify and respond when encountering dangerous situations online. Build a sense of responsibility and solidarity, each young person knows how to protect themselves and be a "companion" to protect everyone.
Parents and teachers together
Mr. Truc affirmed that this campaign will only be successful if there is cooperation. Families need to join in and spend more time caring for and sharing with their children.
Teachers not only impart knowledge but also accompany and guide students in digital skills and self-protection skills.
Organizations and groups should actively promote and spread the campaign's message to every school and every community. Let's build a "safety shield" from family - school - society, to not only protect children today but also preserve a safe and healthy future for future generations.
Ms. Huynh Le Nhu Trang - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training - called on teachers not only to impart knowledge but also to be companions with students in the digital space. Parents should accompany their children by listening, understanding and updating new risks in the online environment.
Students, please be brave enough to speak up if you feel unsafe. Protect your friends. And remember, you are never alone.
Technology reviewer Nguyen Ngoc Duy Luan (Cute Duy Luan):
Slow and steady
When using social media, one of my principles that still works is to always double-check information. I never completely trust information on social media, but always verify it.
When I see information, I will outline the keywords, use those keywords to search again on search engines. I monitor to see if the mainstream newspapers have mentioned this issue or not, if not then it may be inaccurate information, then continue searching.
When I receive news about my loved ones, I will ask them how they are doing. I also tell my family to call me if they need to answer or press a button that the subject asks for. It takes a little more time but I think it is better than rushing.
Recently, AI has developed, creating video and audio content has made it easier for bad guys to commit fraud.
When I watch a video on social media, I watch it very carefully, examining the character's hand movements, whether there is anything strange about the character's mouth, paying close attention to the background, checking to see if there is anything unusual about the content, whether the sound is distorted, or whether there is a strange sound that only appears in a certain part.
