TPO - Despite authorities posting prohibition signs and warnings about dangerous landslides, many people driving cars and motorbikes still deliberately break through the barriers to enter the Yen Nghia dike road (Ha Dong district, Hanoi), which is experiencing serious subsidence.

Due to the impact of recent storms and heavy rain, three sections of the left bank dike of the Day River passing through Yen Nghia ward (Ha Dong district) have subsided, posing a risk to traffic safety.

Specifically, incidents at the Yen Nghia dike occurred in the area from K22+300 to K22+335. Several locations showed numerous cracks wider than 20 cm.

Authorities in Ha Dong district, in coordination with the People's Committee of Yen Nghia ward, have erected warning signs, prohibition signs, and barricades at both ends of the Yen Nghia dike road section where the subsidence occurred.

However, many motorcyclists nonchalantly drove onto the section of the dike where the landslide was occurring, disregarding the danger and ignoring the prohibition signs.

This is not only a violation of traffic laws but can also damage dike infrastructure, increasing the risk of landslides spreading.

According to our reporter's observations, due to the closure of the Yen Nghia dike section, vehicles are forced to take the road along the base of the dike. However, this road is narrow and frequently experiences traffic congestion, sometimes lasting for hours.

To escape the traffic jam along the embankment, vehicles turned around and entered the restricted road.

Many motorcyclists, disregarding the danger, climbed over the barriers and crossed the section of the dike that is severely collapsing.

"Since the dike collapsed, the road below has always been congested. Just two trucks going in opposite directions can block the road completely, so many people choose to cross the dike instead, because going around would be a much longer journey," shared a resident living below the Yen Nghia dike.

Due to subsidence, the road surface is severely damaged, with many potholes and large depressions, posing a significant traffic safety hazard and increasing the risk of accidents.

The surface of the Yen Nghia dike has many ridges resembling buffalo horns.

Currently, the Yen Nghia dike is designed to accommodate vehicles under 10 tons, with some sections allowing up to 12 tons. However, residents report that overloaded vehicles frequently travel along this dike, affecting the dike system and traffic.
