What projects are under construction near the "death hole" in Da Nang?

A "death hole" appeared on Nguyen Cong Tru Street (Da Nang City) and right next to the construction site of the Pho Dong Complex - Capital Square project.

On the afternoon of December 3, on Nguyen Cong Tru Street (An Hai Ward, Da Nang City), a sudden subsidence occurred, creating a "death hole" that "swallowed" two cars and injured at least one person.

The "death hole" is more than 10 meters long, occupying nearly half of Nguyen Cong Tru street.

The location of the “death pit” is right next to the construction fence of the Pho Dong Complex - Capital Square project. This is a project invested by BRG Group , including 14 apartment buildings 24 - 29 floors high on an area of ​​over 61,000 m², currently in the basement and base construction phase.

The incident caused two cars to fall into the ditch. At least one person was injured and taken to the emergency room immediately.

As reported by Vietnam Law, according to records at the scene, the sinkhole was more than 10 meters long, about 2 meters deep, and the width of the hole occupied nearly half of Nguyen Cong Tru Street (from Ngo Quyen Street to Tran Hung Dao). 2 cars parked close to the curb were swept into the hole, another car was precariously perched on the edge.

A resident whose house was opposite the collapsed area said that at around 2:10 p.m., when he got home from work, he was waiting to cross the street when he heard a loud noise behind him. Many people shouted and drove away from the area where the cars were parked. A few seconds later, the road collapsed.

At around 3:30 p.m., rescuers lifted the damaged vehicles. Authorities cordoned off the area, stretched warning ropes, and erected a 2-meter-high tarpaulin. The area where the incident occurred is next to the drainage pipe from Ngo Quyen Street to the Han River - a section that had been temporarily patched about 10 days ago.

The location of the "death hole" is right next to the construction fence of the Capital Square Complex project.

Mr. Hoang Cong Thanh - Chairman of An Hai Ward People's Committee said, according to the records at the scene, the landslide was about 20 - 30m long. For now, the ward has directed the police force and the traffic regulation team to regulate traffic, protect the scene, and wait for the functional forces to inspect and have the final results.

Authorities mobilized machinery to lift the car that fell into the hole.

Mr. Nguyen Ha Nam - Director of the Department of Construction of Da Nang City also informed that the Department has received information about the incident and is checking and handling the scene.

The cause of the subsidence is still being investigated.
