On the afternoon of October 31, taking advantage of a light rain, Ms. Le Thi Cuc in An Thang ward hurriedly brought out buckets and basins to collect water. However, the amount of water collected was small, only enough to last the rest of the day. "I can buy bottles for drinking water, but what I'm most worried about is water for bathing, washing clothes, and cleaning," Ms. Cuc shared.
Mrs. Cuc’s family has 6 members, including small children, so the need for water for daily activities, bathing and hygiene is very high. During the recent flood days, despite the continuous rain, because the house was flooded, Mrs. Cuc could not collect water. Meanwhile, the water reserve before has run out.
In the same situation, Mr. Nguyen Viet Long's family in Dien Ban ward, on the morning of October 31, had to ask his son from the center of Da Nang to urgently transport 5 water bottles (20 liters) to "rescue". However, with this small amount of water, it is expected that it will only be enough to last until the end of tomorrow, unless there is rain or an additional clean water source.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang, Chairwoman of Dien Ban Ward People's Committee, the biggest concern after the flood recedes is the source of clean water for daily use, while the tap water system has not been restored. To help people have clean water to use, Ms. Thuy Hang has contacted many units to mobilize tankers to transport clean water to gathering points, creating conditions for people to get it for temporary use.
By noon today, a number of businesses and military units such as Military Region 5 and Naval Region 3 Command have dispatched tankers to transport water from the center of Da Nang city to Dien Ban. Each trip carries about 24 cubic meters of water. All of this water is gathered at three locations: Triem Dong 2 Cultural House, Vinh Dien Park and Dien Minh Ward People's Committee (old), so that people can come and get it.
However, Ms. Thuy Hang said that the amount of water is only enough to temporarily supply people with cooking and drinking. Daily activities and bathing are still very difficult. Not to mention, households in more remote areas or still isolated by water are facing a very difficult situation.

As of 2pm today, most families in the flooded areas lack clean water to clean their houses after the flood, especially for washing, bathing and hygiene needs. The situation is expected to worsen in the coming days if the water system is not back in operation or if there is insignificant rainfall.
Mr. Nguyen Viet Thanh, Director of Hoi An Water Supply and Drainage Enterprise, affirmed that the unit is making efforts to speed up the supply of clean water to people as soon as the electricity is restored. Since yesterday afternoon, Hoi An Water Supply and Drainage Enterprise has temporarily supplied water for about 3 hours to Hoi An City and Dien Ban Dong Ward using a backup generator. Notably, since 11am this morning, the system has gradually increased pressure and operated continuously. "We prioritize supplying to flooded areas first so that people can clean up. We expect to supply more widely to other areas tonight," Mr. Thanh informed.

Similarly, Mr. Nguyen Nho Hung, Director of Dien Ban Water Supply and Drainage Enterprise, pledged to quickly restore the water supply system in the area under his responsibility. "Currently, the power grid has just been restored. We are checking the control system because it has been flooded for the past few days. If it is safe, we will operate it as early as this afternoon," Mr. Hung affirmed.
