Americans lose ground in world swimming

After only the first 5 days of competition, the US swimming team continued to dominate the number of second-place finishes at the World Aquatics Championships held in Singapore.

Not counting the results on the evening of August 1, the US swimming team won 18 medals including 4 gold, 10 silver and 4 bronze. This number overwhelms Australia's 11 medals. However, the US is still sadly ranked second in the table because Australia has exactly 1 more gold than them.

America is still America. In almost every event, there is an American name in the top 3. The overwhelming number of medals proves the position of American swimming. American swimmers are still good, but unfortunately, the world swimming community is increasingly seeing more and more "mutants" appearing, causing American swimmers to be constantly pushed down to second place.

The first "mutant" to mention is David Popovici - a Romanian swimmer who specializes in the 100m and 200m freestyle. 3 years ago, Popovici stormed this race, then suddenly lost his form, before exploding again with 2 gold medals at this year's world championship. Popovici returned, leaving the 2 American swimmers who specialized in this event, Alexy and Hobson, to sadly finish second.

The next "mutant" is Leon Marchand of France - who also completely excelled in the mixed category. Then there is Summer McIntosh - the new generation queen of swimming. Since last year's Paris Olympics, McIntosh has won 3 gold medals.

And after a year, she has become even more perfect. In the middle distance freestyle group, McIntosh completely "left Ledecky - considered the number 1 female swimmer in the world for the past decade - in the dust. Not only that, the Canadian swimmer is also strong in the medley group and 200m butterfly.

When she won her third gold medal of the year, McIntosh was even angry with herself for not breaking the world record - an expression that showed her dominance at the moment. And above all, the strong rise of the Australian women's swimming team over the past five years.

From individual to team events, the Australian women's swimming team continuously made the American female swimmers regretfully finish second.
