From a pair of cows escaping poverty to the will to rise up

Mr. Vu Van Dinh's family in Tan Loi village, Dak Mil commune is a near-poor household in the locality, living off a few acres of land growing mangoes. However, in good harvest years, the price drops, and in bad harvest years, there is not enough to eat, so Mr. Dinh's family's life is difficult all year round, lacking everything.

Mr. Dinh’s family life began to change when he received a pair of breeding cows from the National Target Program. After receiving the cows, Mr. Dinh renovated the garden, planted more grass, built a barn and spent a lot of effort taking care of them.

“This pair of cows is my family’s most valuable asset. I just hope the cows are healthy and reproduce well so that I can have more calves to increase the herd. Then I will have more income and manure to fertilize the plants, saving a lot of money,” Mr. Dinh happily confided.

Thanks to practical support, many poor households in Dak Mil have more motivation to rise up. According to Mr. Nguyen Quoc Dung, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Dak Mil commune, recently the locality has integrated many programs and projects, focusing on supporting livelihoods and investing in essential infrastructure such as roads, electricity, water, and schools.
