Floods in Le Thuy and Quang Ninh districts ( Quang Binh province) are receding slowly, many areas are still isolated, and students in flooded areas still cannot go to school.


The recent floods have caused many schools in Le Thuy district (Quang Binh province) to be flooded, causing severe damage to facilities. In some schools, as the water receded, teachers and staff rushed to clean the walls and tables and chairs still covered with flood mud.

Speaking to Dan Viet newspaper reporter, Mr. Nguyen Van Vung - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Le Thuy district (Quang Binh province) said: "The rain has decreased, the flood water has receded but very slowly, many schools in the area have not yet drained all the water."

"Currently, some schools have cleaned up mud to welcome students back to school, while flooded schools will move as the flood recedes. For students in flooded areas who cannot go to school, the school will arrange extra tutoring or online classes," said Mr. Nguyen Van Vung.

Many books and school supplies of students in flood-affected areas were damaged due to being soaked in water for many days.

Mr. Vo Thai Hoa - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ninh district (Quang Binh province), said: "Many schools in the area are still flooded, students in some communes still cannot go to school. After the flood recedes, the school will clean up and report so that we can come and check and assess the situation before welcoming students back to school."
