Bridge of love from women's hearts

The "Godmother" program launched by the Vietnam Women's Union has become a bridge of love, connecting hearts sharing with orphans and children in difficult circumstances. In Dak Lak, the program has been actively implemented by women's unions at all levels, spreading love deeply in the community. Reporters of the Provincial Newspaper, Radio and Television had an interview with Ms. Vo Thi Ngoc, Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union, about this meaningful activity.

♦ Madam, what message does the "Godmother" program bring and what is its meaning to disadvantaged children in Dak Lak ?

“Godmother” is a humane initiative, originating from the hearts of women who always desire to spread love. We do not see this as just a gift-giving or financial support activity, but also a long-term, strong connection like an open arm to support the disadvantaged.

For orphans and children in especially difficult circumstances, having a “mother” to accompany, follow and encourage them not only helps reduce the material burden but also makes up for the emotional deficit. They have more confidence and motivation to overcome the pain, study better and look forward to a bright future.

We often emphasize that: “Godmother” is a bridge of humanity, where love does not stop at emotions but turns into concrete, practical actions. Every care, no matter how small, can sow seeds of hope, creating motivation for children to nurture their dreams. This is the profound human value that the program conveys.

♦ So far, what outstanding results has the program achieved, madam?

Up to now, the program has supported thousands of orphans and children in especially difficult circumstances in the province. Particularly on the occasion of the opening of the new school year 2025 - 2026, 102 commune and ward social organizations and the Association of Women Entrepreneurs, Women Intellectuals, and social organizations in armed forces units have had many practical tasks to support orphans, children in special circumstances, and children in difficulty before the new school year with more than 13,000 gifts worth more than 2 billion VND. This not only helps children confidently enter the new school year, but also affirms the strong spread of the spirit of humanity in the community.

It is commendable that more and more organizations, businesses, individuals and even ordinary women members have volunteered to become “mothers” to the children. Many “godmothers” do not stop at providing one-time support, but regularly visit, encourage, listen to their thoughts, and motivate them, helping them feel loved and respected. Many have become a strong spiritual support, a true relative in the children’s journey to adulthood.

♦ To continue to spread the program strongly, what are the directions of the Provincial Women's Union in the coming time?

After the merger, the stronger local Party Committees and authorities will create a "big embrace" so that each disadvantaged child has more support and more confidence to turn their dreams into reality.

Reality shows that the need for support for children is still very large, while social resources are not always abundant. Therefore, the associations at all levels determined that, in order for the program to develop sustainably, it is necessary to mobilize more social resources. Therefore, the Provincial Women's Union will continue to strengthen propaganda and mobilization through many different channels: meetings, association activities, mass media and social networks. The message "Godmother" will be widely spread, so that more and more hearts will sympathize and join hands.

Another important direction is to build a two-way relationship between the “godmother” and the children. Not only material support, but also affection, sharing, and long-term companionship. The Association continues to grasp and survey cases that have not been sponsored to mobilize and connect; create livelihoods for families with disadvantaged children so that no child is left behind.
