A bridge of compassion from the hearts of women.

The "Godmother" program, launched by the Vietnam Women's Union, has become a bridge of compassion, connecting hearts with orphaned and disadvantaged children. In Dak Lak, the program has been actively implemented by women's associations at all levels, spreading love widely throughout the community. Reporters from the provincial newspaper, radio, and television had an interview with Ms. Vo Thi Ngoc, Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union, about this meaningful activity.

Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union, Vo Thi Ngoc.

♦ Madam, what message does the "Godmother" program convey and what is its significance for disadvantaged children in Dak Lak ?

"Godmotherhood" is a deeply humane initiative, stemming from the hearts of women who yearn to spread love. We see this not just as a gift-giving or financial support activity, but as a long-lasting, strong connection, like an outstretched arm supporting those less fortunate.

For orphaned children and those from particularly difficult circumstances, having a "mother" to accompany, watch over, and encourage them not only helps alleviate their material burdens but also partially compensates for the lack of emotional support. This gives them more faith and motivation to overcome their pain, study better, and look forward to a brighter future.

We often emphasize that the "Godmother" program is a bridge of compassion, where love goes beyond mere emotion and transforms into concrete, practical actions. Every act of care, however small, can sow seeds of hope and motivate children to nurture their dreams. This is the profound humanistic value that the program aims to convey.

♦ To date, what outstanding results has the program achieved, Madam?

To date, the program has supported thousands of orphaned and disadvantaged children in the province. Specifically for the start of the 2025-2026 school year, 102 local women's associations at the commune and ward levels, as well as associations for female entrepreneurs, female intellectuals, and associations within the armed forces, have carried out many practical activities to support orphaned children, children with special circumstances, and disadvantaged children before the new school year, providing over 13,000 gifts worth more than 2 billion VND. This not only helps the children confidently enter the new school year but also affirms the strong spread of compassion in the community.

It is commendable that more and more organizations, businesses, individuals, and even ordinary women members have voluntarily become "mothers" to these children. Many "godmothers" do not stop at providing one-time support, but regularly visit, encourage, listen to their thoughts, and uplift their spirits, helping them feel loved and appreciated. Many have become a strong source of emotional support and true family members in the children's journey to adulthood.

The "Godmother" program distributed loving gifts to underprivileged children in Hoa Thinh commune ahead of the new school year.

♦ To ensure the program continues to spread widely, what are the future directions of the Provincial Women's Union?

After the merger, the stronger Party committees and local governments will create a "big embrace" to provide each disadvantaged child with more support and confidence to turn their dreams into reality.

The reality is that the need for support for these children remains very great, while social resources are not always abundant. Therefore, the Women's Union at all levels has determined that for the program to be sustainable, more social resources need to be mobilized. Thus, the Provincial Women's Union will continue to strengthen its communication and advocacy efforts through various channels: meetings, union activities, mass media, and social networks. The "Godmother" message will be widely disseminated, so that more and more hearts will empathize and join hands.

Another important direction is to build a two-way bond between "godmothers" and the children. This involves not only material support, but also emotional connection, sharing, and long-term companionship. The association continues to identify and survey cases that have not yet received sponsorship in order to mobilize support and connect them; creating livelihoods for families with disadvantaged children so that no child is left behind.

Thank you, ma'am!
