Being able to march in the parade is an honor and pride for any soldier. For Sergeant Le Nguyen Xuan Truc, a pharmaceutical officer at the Defense Command of Region 5 (An Giang Provincial Military Command), that honor is doubled when she consecutively participates in two important national events: the parade to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (A50) in April 2025 and the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (A80).

In 2024, Xuan Truc was the only female citizen among 1,351 young people from the former Kien Giang province, now An Giang province, who volunteered to join the army.

During the A50 batch, she was honored to be selected to join the Saigon Special Forces female soldiers. Truc always showed a high sense of responsibility, overcame difficulties, and completed all tasks well. “Participating in the parade is a source of pride not only for me, but also for my family and unit. I consider this both a responsibility and a great honor, so I am always determined to complete it excellently,” Truc shared.

To prepare for the A50 parade, she and her teammates spent nearly 5 months training at the Military School of Military Region 7 in extremely hot weather conditions. The heavy marching equipment of over 7kg caused many soldiers, especially female soldiers, to suffer from health problems, heatstroke, and exhaustion. However, with determination and solidarity, the whole unit overcame it together. For Truc, this period of time not only trained her physical strength and will, but also helped her bond more with her teammates and love the soldier's uniform more.

Happiness in the heart of the capital

In the past few days, performing the A80 mission, under the scorching summer sun, Truc continued to practice, diligently adjusting each movement. This time, she continued to march in the Saigon female commando unit. She said: “Every day I wake up before 4am to prepare; at 5:20am I am already on the training ground. There were times when I was too tired, didn’t eat much, even got sunstroke, fainted and had to be given 7 bottles of IV fluids. My knees and ankles were also aching, but I told myself to try my best, because that was my great pride.”

On August 27, Truc and her teammates participated in the preliminary rehearsal, followed by the final rehearsal on August 30. The closer it gets to National Day, the more emotional she becomes. “Although this is the second time participating in the parade, the emotions are still the same as the first time. I am happy to walk solemnly in the heart of the capital, see red flags and flowers on the streets, and deeply feel the value of peace , independence, and freedom. Seeing the army's modern weapons and military equipment right in Hanoi is an unforgettable memory,” Truc said emotionally.

From a female citizen who volunteered to join the army, now becoming a sergeant, Xuan Truc has written a beautiful story about patriotism, determination and aspiration to contribute of young soldiers. With the spirit of Uncle Ho's soldiers, love for the Fatherland, Truc and her teammates are training day and night, overcoming difficulties, determined to successfully complete the task of marching in celebration of the 80th anniversary of National Day September 2 - a sacred milestone in the history of the nation.
