Against Myanmar, the Vietnamese women's team had the imperative to win in order to advance to the semi-finals of the SEA Games 33. The 0-1 defeat against the Philippines put coach Mai Duc Chung's team in a difficult position, with only 3 points and facing the rare risk of an early exit in many SEA Games.
Nevertheless, the head-to-head history gives Huynh Nhu and her teammates confidence. Since their loss in 2005, the Vietnamese women's team has always held the upper hand against Myanmar, winning both the group stage and the final of the SEA Games 32, and most recently, a 5-0 victory at the AFF Cup 2024.

Previously, at the 2023 SEA Games, Vietnam also defeated Malaysia and Myanmar after losing to the Philippines to top their group and win the championship by beating Cambodia in the semi-finals and Myanmar in the final. Could a similar scenario unfold for Coach Mai Duc Chung's team to reach the semi-finals?
Coach Mai Duc Chung warned that Myanmar is a fast-paced team, pressing hard and very adept at taking advantage of opportunities, requiring the Vietnamese team to concentrate fully and avoid mistakes. Despite still feeling disappointed after the loss to the Philippines, the entire team affirmed they will fight with all their might.
