According to the General Statistics Office ( Ministry of Finance ), favorable visa policies, intensified tourism promotion and marketing programs, and activities celebrating major national holidays have attracted an increasing number of international tourists to Vietnam.
According to the Department's report for the first six months of 2025, in June 2025, the number of international visitors to Vietnam reached 1.46 million, a decrease of 4.3% compared to the previous month and an increase of 17.1% compared to the same period in 2024. Overall, in the first six months of 2025, the number of international visitors to Vietnam reached nearly 10.7 million, an increase of 20.7% compared to the same period in 2024.
Of these, 9.1 million visitors arrived by air, accounting for 85.2% of international visitors and increasing by 22.7% compared to the same period in 2024; 1.4 million arrived by land, accounting for 13.1% and increasing by 10.9%; and 181,400 arrived by sea, accounting for 1.7% and increasing by 10%.

The number of Vietnamese people leaving the country in the second quarter of 2025 was 1,379.5 thousand, a decrease of 2.3% compared to the same period in 2024. However, for the first six months of 2025, the total number of Vietnamese people leaving the country reached 4,062.8 thousand, an increase of 53.9% compared to the same period in 2024.
Meanwhile, according to business assessments, the tourism industry could potentially achieve its target of around 22 million visitors during the peak tourist season from September to December.
China continued to be Vietnam's largest source market for tourists in the first half of 2025 with 2.7 million arrivals (accounting for 25.6%). South Korea ranked second, with 2.2 million arrivals (accounting for 20.7%). These two markets alone contributed 46.3% of the total international visitors in the past six months. The top 10 largest markets for Vietnamese tourism currently include China, the United States, Japan, India, Australia, Malaysia, Russia, Taiwan (China), and South Korea.

Previously, at the first Government Conference with localities after implementing the two-tiered local government model on July 3rd, the Prime Minister assessed tourism as one of the 10 outstanding highlights in the first six months of 2025.
Many international organizations also recognize that Vietnam's tourism sector is a bright spot, with the highest growth rate of international tourists in the Asia-Pacific region, becoming an attractive destination for the region and the world.
