Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia was promoted to the rank of General and appointed Director of the General Political Department.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, was appointed to the position of Director of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army, and concurrently promoted from Senior Lieutenant General to General.

On the morning of November 4, at the Presidential Palace, President Luong Cuong presided over the announcement ceremony and presented the decision to appoint the position of Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) and presented the decision to promote the ranks of general and senior general to officers of the VPA.

At the ceremony, authorized by the President, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh, Deputy Head of the Office of the President , announced the President's decision to appoint Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, to hold the position of Director of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army, and at the same time promote his rank from Senior Lieutenant General to General.

In addition, the decision to promote from lieutenant general to senior general was announced for Mr. Nguyen Van Gau, Deputy Minister of National Defense, and Mr. Le Duc Thai, Deputy Minister of National Defense.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, 63 years old, from Tien Giang province; political theory level: advanced.

Before holding the position of Director of the General Department of Politics, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia held the following positions: Deputy Director of Politics of Military Region 7 in 2008.

In 2010, he served as Political Commissar of the 4th Army Corps.

From 2012 to present, he has held the position of Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army.

In 2013, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General. In January 2016, he was elected as a member of the 12th Party Central Committee. In May 2016, he was elected as a delegate to the 14th National Assembly. In September 2017, he was promoted to the rank of Senior Lieutenant General.

On January 30, 2021, at the 13th National Congress of the Party, he was elected as a member of the 13th Party Central Committee for the 2021-2026 term.

On January 31, 2021, at the first meeting of the 13th Party Central Committee, he was elected to the 13th Party Central Committee Secretariat for the 2021-2026 term.

On February 18, 2021, the Politburo assigned Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia to hold the position of Head of the Central Propaganda Department.

In May 2024, at the 9th Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee, he was elected to the Politburo.

On February 3, 2025, he became Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department.
