Petrolimex and GEAPP cooperate to implement green energy transition

On November 1, 2024, in Hanoi, Vietnam National Petroleum Group ( Petrolimex /Group) and the Global Energy Alliance for People and the Planet (GEAPP) successfully organized a technical workshop on technologies and energy transition trends at energy corporations around the world.

This workshop is a joint content within the framework of the technical cooperation program to promote Petrolimex's energy transition plan signed by the parties on August 12, 2024. The event attracted more than 80 delegates to attend and hundreds of delegates to connect online, including many experts in the field, demonstrating the deep interest of the professional community in the context of the need to transition to clean, sustainable energy sources becoming a top priority of many countries, including Vietnam.

Overview of the Technical Workshop on Energy Transition Technologies and Trends at Energy Corporations Around the World

Directly attending the workshop, on Petrolimex's side were Party Secretary, Chairman of the Board of Directors Pham Van Thanh; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Dang Tran Hieu; Board of Directors; leaders of specialized departments; Steering Committee and Carbon Neutralization Implementation Committee, Research Team for Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction of the Group and leaders of Petrolimex member units.

On GEAPP's side, there were Ms. Sunita Dubey - Chief Representative in Vietnam; Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh - Executive Director of RCEE-NIRAS, Technical Advisor of GEAPP Vietnam and guest representatives who are domestic and international experts and researchers in the fields of energy, climate and sustainable development.

At the workshop, experts shared in-depth and updated knowledge on advanced energy transition technologies such as electric vehicle charging stations and electric vehicle infrastructure, Hydrogen, SAF, renewable energy (solar, wind, biomass, etc.) and consulted on transition strategies at major energy corporations in the world. In addition, Petrolimex representatives also discussed the Group's efforts in researching and applying new technologies to production and business.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tu, Deputy General Director of Petrolimex, shared the Group's determination to achieve its strategic goals by 2025, with a vision to 2035, making Petrolimex the leading energy group in Vietnam in terms of green, clean, high-quality, and environmentally friendly energy products. To achieve this goal, Petrolimex is interested in acquiring international experience and understanding global energy transition trends, especially for energy companies participating in downstream processes. The information shared at the workshop will be an important basis for Petrolimex to research and develop a suitable energy transition strategy, towards the goal of green transition and contribute to the Government 's commitment set at COP26.
