This is an activity within the framework of the FEF-R Patrimoine project, funded by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (through the French Embassy and the French Institute in Vietnam - IFV), and implemented in collaboration with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi (USSH - VNU), the French School of Far Eastern Studies (EFEO), and the Francophone University Organization (AUF).
This initiative aims to promote and enhance the value of the tangible, intangible, and digital heritage of the capital city through four pilot heritage tourism routes, an interactive map system, the H-Heritage application, and a QR code system at various historical sites in central Hanoi .
Accordingly, digitalization and mapping tools have three functions: Tourism function: helping domestic and international tourists directly explore heritage at each destination; Scientific function: providing data for researchers, lecturers, experts, and graduate students; Educational function: supporting the integration of heritage knowledge into curricula and extracurricular activities at the secondary and university levels, contributing to raising students' awareness of cultural heritage.

The chosen methodology combines field surveys, document analysis, training, and the application of mapping technology. From over one hundred surveyed relics in Hanoi, the research team selected 28 representative relics, divided into four heritage routes associated with four traditional Vietnamese beliefs: the Four Guardian Temples, the Mother Goddess Temple, the Ancestral Temple of Crafts, and Hanoi Pagodas. Each route not only brings together a group of relics but also tells a connected story, reflecting the spiritual structure and memories of Hanoians, past and present.
From there, four travel itineraries were created, including: Itinerary 1 - Thang Long Four Guardian Temples (Four deities protecting the capital city), which will explore four sacred temples: Bach Ma, Voi Phuc, Quan Thanh, and Kim Lien, guarding the four directions (East, West, South, and North) of the ancient Thang Long capital - a route honoring the sacred cultural identity and unique spiritual structure of Hanoi.
Journey 2 - The Temples of the Mother Goddess , will connect eight temples and shrines dedicated to Mother Goddess Lieu Hanh and other Holy Mothers, representing the Tam Phu belief system - an intangible cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO. This is a unique Vietnamese belief system, blending rituals, music, dance, and the spirit of honoring the Mother. This journey will explore the temples of Dong Ha, Vu Thach, Ba Kieu, Xuan Yen, Den Dau, Vong Tien, Phu Tay Ho, and the incense tree at Long Bien train station.

Journey 3 - Ancestral Temples of Traditional Crafts , is a tour through the ancestral temples of traditional crafts in Hanoi's Old Quarter, honoring the founders of these crafts. Each temple preserves traces of our ancestors, those who contributed to the essence of these crafts, showcasing the enduring creativity of ancient Thang Long. This journey will explore Hanoi's ancestral temples such as: Kim Ngan Temple (ancestral temple of goldsmithing), Dong Lac Temple (ancestral temple of traditional Vietnamese blouses), Pha Truc Lam Temple (ancestral temple of leather and footwear making), Ha Vi Temple (ancestral temple of lacquerware making), Phuc Hau Temple (ancestral temple of mirror making), Tu Thi Temple (ancestral temple of embroidery), Lo Ren Temple (ancestral temple of blacksmithing), and Ngu Xa Temple (ancestral temple of bronze casting).
Journey 4 - Hanoi Pagodas , will explore pagodas associated with the name of the monk An Thien (Phuc Dien) - one of the most prominent patriarchs of Vietnamese Buddhism. From Bao Thien Pagoda, now only a memory, to Lien Tri, Ham Long, and Lien Phai pagodas… The journey recreates the historical and spiritual flow of Thang Long, where memory, technology, and faith meet, telling the story of loss, preservation, reconstruction, and conservation of heritage.

Speaking at the event, the Chairwoman of the Ba Dinh Ward People's Committee, Ms. Pham Thi Diem, stated that Ba Dinh Ward is home to many famous cultural heritage sites, contributing to the diversity of Hanoi's cultural and tourism landscape. In recent times, the ward has piloted many cultural tourism products utilizing modern technology, yielding positive initial results. This is considered an important direction in the preservation and promotion of heritage values in Hanoi in general and Ba Dinh Ward in particular, in a civilized and modern spirit while maintaining its rich cultural identity. These values have contributed to making Ba Dinh a memorable destination for domestic and international tourists, while also opening up many opportunities for the development of cultural, historical, and experiential tourism.
