To transform into the character Quang, Steven Nguyen must go through rigorous training.
He lost 5kg in a short time, from 75kg to 70kg, with a strict diet, only about 300g of starch per day, the rest is mainly meat to maintain muscle.
At the same time, he practiced intensely, sometimes feeling dizzy from fatigue.
In addition to bodybuilding, Steven also participated in military training, practiced combat skills at Cu Chi shooting range and spent an additional month practicing real fighting exercises to make the character Quang appear vivid and realistic.
Even though he is a soldier on the "other side of the battle line", Steven Nguyen still attracts the audience's attention thanks to his handsome face, toned body and many scenes showing off his muscular body.
However, playing the role of Quang was not easy. The actor confessed that at first he was quite confused and even did not like the character.
“For a long time I have dreamed of acting in a war movie, of course playing the role of a soldier. soldier "protecting the Fatherland. When I knew I had to play the villain, I was disappointed and wondered why it wasn't a good guy," he shared.
When asked about his family's reaction to the role of Quang, Steven Nguyen shared: "Parents often want their children to play the role of a soldier to be proud of. When they found out I played a villain, they were a bit shocked."
In addition, working with the Northern crew for the first time put him under great pressure. The first days on On set, Steven was so nervous that it was hard to get into the rhythm. But once he got into the rhythm, he gradually exploited the character's psychological depth, bringing a more multifaceted Quang character.
Steven Nguyen, real name Huy Nguyen, was born in 1991 and graduated from the Acting Department at the University of Theatre and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City. Before the audience knew his name, he spent nearly 10 years struggling to find his place.
His big break came when he played the lead role in movie aired on the web "Big Brother Bi Long", then continued to make his mark with the role of Phuc Luan in the movie "Stolen Happiness".
He also participated in many other works such as "My girlfriend is the school boss", "Steel fist", "Faceless killer", "Hung Long phong ba"...
Currently, the movie “Red Rain” is leading the Vietnamese box office with a revenue of more than 132 billion VND as of 10:00 a.m. on August 26, according to data from Box Office Vietnam. Although it is a work about war, the movie is still “sold out” in theaters.
