On the afternoon of July 1st, a workshop titled "Discovering and Nurturing Film Talent: International Experiences and Solutions for Vietnam" was held in Da Nang City as part of the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF 2025).
The workshop attracted many domestic and international experts who shared experiences, effective training models, and proposed solutions suitable to practical situations.
Building a new generation of filmmakers.
In her presentation "Building a New Generation of Filmmakers: Learning from the International Community and Expanding Cooperation," Associate Professor, Doctor, and Meritorious Teacher Phan Thi Bich Ha argued that discovering and nurturing young film talents is not only the responsibility of training institutions but also requires assistance from the state, social organizations, and businesses.

According to Ms. Phan Thi Bich Ha, in recent years, the global film industry has been undergoing significant changes in technology, content, and film production and distribution methods. The challenge of discovering and nurturing film talent has become one of the key strategies.
“International experience shows that, in order to nurture talented young filmmakers, it is necessary to build a comprehensive support ecosystem, from training, mentoring, financial support, to creating opportunities for screening works and providing opportunities for career development. With its rich creative potential, Vietnam has the ability to form a new generation of filmmakers who are distinctive, creative, and adaptable, if there are synchronized policies and systematic investment in the future,” Ms. Phan Thi Bich Ha stated.
At the workshop, Director Trinh Dinh Le Minh also shared his experiences in "Developing a filmmaking training program in a multidisciplinary university environment."

Director Trinh Dinh Le Minh believes that early practical training helps students develop a professional work mindset and build a network of collaborators. Furthermore, strong links with the domestic film industry and international film festivals will help students develop a professional attitude and stay updated on contemporary film trends.
The government needs to support the younger generation of filmmakers.
Speaking at the workshop, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee, said that in the context of the global film industry undergoing a strong transformation, discovering and nurturing young talents is not only an urgent task but also a long-term strategy to build a sustainable, creative, and integrated film industry.

International experience shows that investing in people – from directors, screenwriters, and actors to technicians – is the foundation for creating works that have a wide reach.
According to Ms. Thi, Da Nang City is currently gradually building a creative cultural ecosystem and promoting the development of cultural industries, including film.
“We are well aware that, in order to develop the film industry, practical support policies for the younger generation of filmmakers are indispensable. From training and international connections to creating favorable conditions for production and distribution, Da Nang City will continue to cooperate with film organizations, training schools, and the creative community to build a favorable environment for talent to develop,” the Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee emphasized.

Sharing international experience plays a crucial role in the development of the film industry, helping future generations of filmmakers access effective development models from other countries, expanding markets and collaboration opportunities. Simultaneously, it contributes to building policies that support the film industry, creating a suitable legal framework to attract investment and ensure sustainable development.
