Vice Chairman of the City People's Council Tran Xuan Vinh visited and presented gifts in Thuong Duc commune

Reporting to the working group, Mr. Phan Trung Phi, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thuong Duc Commune, said that prolonged heavy rains had caused flooding, isolating 21 villages in the area. All areas were isolated, with an average flood depth of 1 to more than 3 meters.

The locality has organized the evacuation of 313 households with 1,021 people to flood-prone houses and safe areas; ensuring adequate supplies of necessities, clean water, medicine, and electricity for temporary living for people.

The consequences of the floods left two people dead; one of them was a landslide that caused the collapse of a livestock farm, and another person slipped and fell, injuring his head and later died. The entire commune had 39 people injured, mostly during the flood cleanup process. The total estimated damage caused by the floods from October 26 to November 3 in Thuong Duc commune was more than 148 billion VND.

After the flood receded, Thuong Duc commune urgently deployed initial remedial measures. Mobilizing shock troops, with the support of Division 315 and Military Region 5, the villages cleaned mud at offices, schools, medical stations, markets, and roads to ensure environmental sanitation.

Local authorities promptly visited, encouraged, and provided financial support to families of the deceased and injured; called for and received about 5,000 gifts, 300 million VND, and 50 tons of gifts to urgently support people to overcome the consequences; supported clean water and books for schools and students to serve teaching and learning activities...

Vice Chairman of the City People's Council Tran Xuan Vinh highly appreciated the proactive, flexible and decisive measures taken by the local political system to respond to floods before and during the floods; and shared the difficulties and losses caused by floods in the area. Vice Chairman of the City People's Council Tran Xuan Vinh requested Thuong Duc commune to continue mobilizing forces to overcome the consequences, stabilize people's lives after the floods, restore production, and clean up the environment...

On this occasion, the delegation presented 50 gifts (each gift included a gift and 500,000 VND in cash) to families with meritorious services to the revolution who suffered heavy losses. On the same day, the delegation visited and presented gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mother Do Thi Lien (residing in Truc Ha village).
