On May 12, in the capital Minsk, on the occasion of accompanying General Secretary To Lam on a state visit to Belarus, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son had a meeting with Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov.

At the meeting, the Belarusian Foreign Minister warmly welcomed General Secretary To Lam and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to Belarus; emphasized the important and historic significance of the visit as well as the upgrading of the relationship between the two countries to a strategic partnership, contributing to deepening the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Belarus.

Appreciating the results of the talks and meetings between the leaders of the two countries, the Belarusian Foreign Minister expressed his belief that the upgrading of the relationship to a strategic partnership will open up new cooperation space for the two countries in many areas such as politics - diplomacy; defense - security, economics, trade, investment; energy - oil and gas, agriculture, mining, cultural exchange, education, tourism and humanity.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son expressed his sincere thanks to Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov and his Belarusian colleagues for their close coordination and careful preparation for the first visit of the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam to Belarus in 11 years; emphasizing that this is a visit of historical significance, demonstrating deep political trust and the desire to promote the relationship between the two countries to enter a new stage of development, more substantive and effective.

Welcoming the agreements agreed upon by the leaders of the two countries, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that the results of the visit will not only open a new chapter for Vietnam - Belarus relations, but also create momentum to expand cooperation between the two countries and between ASEAN regions and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), in the context of Belarus assuming the role of rotating Chair of the EAEU in 2025.

The two Ministers agreed to soon coordinate to develop the Roadmap for the implementation of the Vietnam - Belarus Strategic Partnership and the Action Plan of the two Foreign Ministries, promote the establishment of consultation mechanisms at the Department and Institute levels between the two Ministries; continue to promote the central coordination role, urge the implementation of agreements agreed upon by the Leaders of the two sides, concretize the political commitments of the two countries' senior leaders to strengthen bilateral cooperation; support ministries, branches, localities and especially enterprises to increase exchanges, contacts, learn about and promote cooperation and investment opportunities in each other's markets; coordinate with relevant agencies to promote the resolution of obstacles to clear bottlenecks, opening up new opportunities for bilateral trade and investment cooperation...

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son respectfully invited Belarusian Foreign Minister M. Ryzhenkov to visit Vietnam soon. Foreign Minister Ryzhenkov happily accepted the invitation.
