On November 9, in An Giang province, the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 3 inter-level boarding schools in border communes took place simultaneously, under the "Inter-level boarding school project in mainland border communes".
The boarding schools that have started construction include: Vinh Gia Primary and Secondary Boarding School (Vinh Gia commune); Giang Thanh Semi-Boarding and Boarding School (Giang Thanh commune); Khanh An Primary and Secondary Boarding School (Khanh Binh commune).
In particular, Vinh Gia Primary and Secondary Boarding School was honored to be chosen as the central bridge, with the participation and direction of Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son.
Also attending were Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc; Mr. Nguyen Tien Hai, Secretary of An Giang Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Ho Van Mung, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and leaders of the Ministries of National Defense, Public Security, Finance, Construction, Ethnicity and Religion.
The program is broadcast live on VTV1 channel of Vietnam Television, connecting 14 points across the country.
Sharing at the ceremony, Mr. Pham Thanh Binh, Principal of Luong An Tra Secondary School (Vinh Gia Commune) excitedly said that the groundbreaking ceremony for the Vinh Gia Primary - Secondary Boarding School has brought great hope and motivation to the staff, teachers and students.
"The boarding school model will contribute to ensuring fairness in access to knowledge for students in remote areas; improve the quality of comprehensive education, helping students study and practice in a more favorable environment. This is also an ideal place to discover and nurture talented students in disadvantaged areas; gradually creating high-quality human resources for the locality and the country," Mr. Pham Thanh Binh shared.
Ms. Ngo Thi Cam, a teacher at Luong An Tra Secondary School, expressed her joy: "The construction of a boarding school has a profound humanitarian meaning. The teaching staff also hopes and believes that teaching will be more innovative, flexible and creative. Teachers have a place to live and work, feel secure in their long-term commitment to the school, build a strong, united collective, and improve the quality of education."
At the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc, and delegates performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the Vinh Gia Primary and Secondary Boarding School project.
In order to encourage and motivate students to continue to strive, overcome difficulties, and excel in their studies and training, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son presented gifts and 20 scholarships to excellent students with difficult circumstances; and presented 1 gift and 1 million VND to 10 teachers with difficult circumstances.
According to the People's Committee of Vinh Gia commune, Vinh Gia Primary and Secondary Boarding School was formed on the basis of merging two existing schools: Luong An Tra Primary School B and Luong An Tra Secondary School.
The project is implemented in the form of new construction combined with renovation and upgrading, with a total estimated investment cost of 186,740 billion VND. The school has 45 classes, expected to meet the learning needs of 1,500 students.
It is expected that when Vinh Gia Primary and Secondary Boarding School comes into operation, better teaching conditions, a good learning environment and high expertise will attract many good teachers to teach and students from all over to study (the scale will increase by 20 - 30%), aiming to reach a scale of 1,500 students by 2030.
Implementing the direction of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on organizing the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of primary and secondary boarding schools in the land border communes, the Ministry of Education and Training presided over and coordinated with Vietnam Television, Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) and 17 land border provinces and cities to organize the groundbreaking ceremony simultaneously on November 9, 2025 in both in-person and online forms.
At the ceremony, construction was started simultaneously on 72 schools in the list of 100 inter-level boarding schools for primary and secondary schools to be invested in 2025, to be completed before August 30, 2026.
The program to build 100 inter-level boarding schools in border communes (phase 1, 2025 - 2026) under the investment policy to complete the construction of 248 schools in border communes) is a key and important task, concretizing the policy of the Politburo and the Government on developing education in disadvantaged areas, narrowing the regional gap, creating equality in access to education and contributing to strengthening social security, developing the economy - society and maintaining national security and defense in border areas. The total investment cost for building 100 schools is nearly 20,000 billion VND.
The simultaneous groundbreaking ceremony of 72 projects, with the participation of leaders of the Government, ministries, branches and localities, demonstrates the spirit of close coordination and high determination of the entire political system in caring for students in border areas, fully preparing the conditions to soon complete the investment of 100 schools before the 2026-2027 school year.
