The video is sure to go viral throughout the Arab world , where the 53-year-old journalist is known as a representative face for Palestinians in numerous conflicts. He is revered in his native Gaza for telling stories of people's suffering and hardship to the outside world.
According to Al Jazeera, members of the Dahdouh family were killed in an Israeli airstrike on the Nuseirat refugee camp, located in an area of Gaza that the Israeli military encourages people to go to for safety.
The news agency said Dahdouh's family was among more than 1 million Gaza residents displaced by the war, which has now been going on for 19 days, and were living in a house in Nuseirat when the bombing occurred.
Health authorities in Gaza say Israeli attacks have killed more than 6,500 Palestinians. According to Israeli authorities, the fighting has killed more than 1,400 people in Israel.
Earlier, journalist Dahdouh had gone on air, reporting on the aftermath of a private attack that killed at least 26 people. Throughout the conflict, Dahdouh remained in Gaza City, despite Israeli calls for residents to move south ahead of an anticipated ground offensive.
Hundreds of thousands of people have fled to Nuseirat and other locations in central and southern Gaza, believing they would be safer there. However, Israeli attacks continue to strike these areas.
The Israeli military has not yet responded to the incident. However, the Israeli military has previously stated that it only attacks Hamas military targets in Gaza.
