TPO - Parents of Binh Hoa Secondary School (Binh My Commune, Cu Chi District, Ho Chi Minh City) were asked to contribute at least 200,000 VND/person to build a concrete road in front of the school gate. The local authorities said the campaign was voluntary but misinformation was communicated, causing parents to misunderstand.
On September 23, many parents of Binh Hoa Secondary School were upset and said that during the first parent-teacher meeting of the year, they received an open letter about funding and financial support for the concrete construction of alley 235 (Ba Doi canal bank).
According to the open letter, the project to concretize the above alley is 350m long and 3.5m wide, invested by the People's Committee of Hamlet 16 (Binh My Commune). The locality mobilized households with houses and land on the above road; parents of students with children studying at Binh Hoa Secondary School; cadres, teachers, and staff working at the school and benefactors to contribute to the construction of the road.

Accordingly, the school's Parents' Association will send an open letter to each parent. Parents will write the amount of contribution on the form and pay it to the homeroom teacher (each person contributes at least 200,000 VND). The contribution period is from September 22 to September 30.
At noon the same day, answering Tien Phong newspaper reporters, Mr. Tran Quang Thai, Chairman of Binh My Commune People's Committee, said that the above road is located in front of Binh Hoa Secondary School. The locality has a policy of raising social donations to build the road with a construction cost of about 316 million VND with the purpose of making it more convenient for students and surrounding residents to travel.
“We called for donations voluntarily, not forced. However, during the implementation process, there was unclear information, so parents misunderstood. On the first day of implementation, parents contributed more than 80 million VND. After this incident, the locality continued to call for donations, but in the spirit that those who have a lot should contribute a lot, those who have little should contribute a little, and those who are in difficulty do not need to contribute,” said Mr. Thai.
