In village 7, Dak Rve commune, over the past two years, each household has hung plastic baskets in front of their house to sort garbage. When the baskets are full, the garbage is brought to the communal house for sorting, helping the residential area become cleaner every day. This area used to be a "hot spot" for garbage because there were no collection vehicles; therefore, in 2024, the Commune Women's Union chose village 7 to implement this model and received positive responses from the people. The model is considered a suitable solution in current conditions.
In Dak To commune, the model of “Waste classification and recycling at households” has been maintained and expanded to 50 households. From 2022, women's union members of village 3 have classified four groups of waste at the source and have been supported with barrels to compost organic waste for agricultural production. This method helps reduce the amount of waste released into the environment and brings economic benefits to people. The model also creates a habit of waste classification for each household.
Plastic waste is also recycled into decorative items. In Cam Thanh ward, women use plastic bottles and boxes to make ornamental plant pots, spreading the movement of "Planting trees on plastic waste". Hundreds of members of 26 associations in the ward actively participate, contributing to creating more green urban areas and raising awareness of environmental protection.
In Binh Son commune, the "Anti-plastic waste" movement continues to be maintained effectively with 23 "5 no, 3 clean" association models, 11 scrap collection models and 6 home waste classification models. Women's union members also collect cans and plastic bottles to raise charity funds, bringing in nearly 17 million VND in just one year to support poor households, orphans and lonely elderly people. In addition, flower roads and self-managed roads with a total length of nearly 30 km are regularly cared for, creating a new look for the locality.
In Quang Ngai province, the Women's Union at all levels regularly cleans up residential areas, self-managed roads and beaches; at the same time, organizes training and communication on the "Anti-plastic waste" movement, the "Building a family of 5 no, 3 clean" campaign, and the "Women live green" campaign. These activities contribute to raising community responsibility, promoting waste classification at source, waste collection and green transformation in life.
In the context of increasingly complex climate change, environmental protection has become a common task of the whole society. With an important role in the family and community, Quang Ngai women are the core force, pioneering in building a green lifestyle, spreading environmental protection awareness from each household to the whole community. Small actions are creating big changes, contributing to building a green - clean - sustainable Quang Ngai.
