PV: Can you tell us how many TS targets will be set for the University in 2023 and will there be any changes in the TS methods?

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Huu Cong: In 2023, the University of Science and Technology will recruit 133 undergraduate training majors with 15,932 targets and 21 college training majors with 1,100 targets. In terms of methods, students will be recruited according to 6 main methods (an increase of 1 method compared to 2022), including: Direct admission according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training; admission according to separate PhD projects of training units; admission based on 2023 high school graduation exam scores; admission based on high school academic results (transcripts); admission based on the results of the competency assessment test of Hanoi National University, competency assessment of Hanoi National University of Education; admission combined with aptitude test for undergraduate and college levels in Preschool Education (the University of Science and Technology Branch in Ha Giang province).

PV: Many candidates are very interested in the high-quality training programs of the University of Natural Sciences. Could you share more information so that candidates can understand better?

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Huu Cong: Thai Nguyen University is training 142 university-level majors with nearly 200 training majors in all fields from mass training programs, imported advanced training programs, high-quality key programs, international joint programs, and programs taught and learned in English.

Advanced programs, high-quality key programs are accessible to programs of prestigious universities in the world . Criteria on objectives, content, curriculum, teaching materials, teaching staff, management staff, teaching and learning methods, testing methods, student assessment, training management methods... must all meet international standards.

Teaching and learning are entirely in English, equipping students with modern knowledge, professional skills, the ability to proficiently use information technology tools and foreign languages in professional activities, helping students develop analytical and problem-assessment skills, and quickly adapt to the future working environment.

Therefore, candidates who want to study these programs must determine that learning English is the first requirement and students will be able to improve their English skills right from the first year of university.

PV: In recent years, NTU has promoted the accreditation of training programs according to international standards and the quality assessment of member educational institutions. So far, how many majors and training institutions have been awarded accreditation certificates and what are the directions of NTU regarding this work in the coming time?

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Cong: As of June 2023, 7 member universities have been recognized for the second cycle of quality accreditation, 46 training programs have been recognized for quality accreditation, of which 15 training programs meet AUN-QA quality standards, 31 training programs meet domestic quality standards.

With the vision of becoming one of the leading universities in Southeast Asia, fulfilling its responsibility to society, VNU has been focusing on improving the quality of training; setting a goal that by 2025, in addition to 7 member universities recognized for the second cycle of accreditation, over 35% of training programs will be recognized for quality accreditation, of which 20 training programs will meet AUN-QA quality standards.

PV: 2023 marks a turning point when the University of Technology establishes a branch in Ha Giang province. So in the first year of operation, what majors will the University of Technology branch in Ha Giang offer and what preferential policies will it have for new students , sir?

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Huu Cong: In 2023, the University of Natural Sciences will establish a branch of the University of Natural Sciences in Ha Giang province to help ethnic minority children in Ha Giang province and neighboring provinces access higher education, contributing to human resource training, developing local science and technology to serve the socio-economic development of the province and neighboring provinces such as Cao Bang, Tuyen Quang, Bac Kan. At the same time, it is a premise for implementing regional and international linkages in human resource training in the future.

In 2023, the Ha Giang branch of the University of Technology will offer 10 undergraduate training majors including: Primary Education, Preschool Education, Tourism, Law, English Language, International Business, Agriculture (High-tech Agriculture), Animal Husbandry, Crop Science, Natural Resources and Environmental Management and 1 college training major (Preschool Education).
