Efforts to build an equal and happy family

After 10 years of implementing the 2014 Law on Marriage and Family, Thai Nguyen province has achieved many positive results, contributing significantly to building a cultured, happy and progressive family, while ensuring the rights and legitimate interests of family members.

The Law on Marriage and Family creates a legal corridor towards building an equal and happy society.

Immediately after the Law took effect, the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province issued a decision and plan for implementation in the area.

The Department of Justice was assigned by the Provincial People's Committee to be the standing agency, presiding over and coordinating with departments, branches and localities to carry out propaganda, dissemination and guidance on the implementation of the Law to cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers and people in the area. Thanks to the drastic and synchronous direction from the province to the grassroots, legal regulations on marriage and family have quickly entered life.

One of the highlights is that the work of propagating, disseminating and educating the law has been widely deployed, with many diverse forms, suitable for each target group. In the past 10 years, the whole province has organized more than 43,000 legal propaganda conferences, attracting more than 6.5 million participants.

Hundreds of competitions and contests to learn about the law on marriage, gender equality, prevention of child marriage and incestuous marriage were held in schools and highland villages... contributing to changing people's awareness, especially ethnic minorities.

Marriage registration is carried out seriously, in accordance with regulations, ensuring the legal rights of citizens. From 2015 to now, communes, wards and towns in the province have received and processed more than 80,800 marriage registration applications, reaching a rate of 100% in accordance with the process and procedures.

The work of conciliating marital and family disputes has also been focused on, with 555 cases received and many successful conciliations, contributing to reducing petitions and complaints and preserving family happiness.

The province also pays special attention to the prevention of child marriage and consanguineous marriage, a problem that still exists in ethnic minority areas. In the period 2015-2025, the whole province recorded 405 cases of child marriage and 4 cases of consanguineous marriage, but compared to the previous period, it has decreased significantly thanks to increased propaganda and pilot models of "Reducing child marriage and consanguineous marriage" in many mountainous communes.

The 2014 Law on Marriage and Family has created a legal corridor for marriage and family relationships, contributing greatly to building a foundation for a prosperous, equal, progressive, happy family that respects human rights, especially the rights of women and children.

Recognizing the value of housework, raising the marriage age, expanding the right to request divorce, clearly defining common and separate property, etc. have contributed to protecting the legitimate rights and interests of family members, in line with the development trends of modern society.

In the coming time, Thai Nguyen province will continue to strengthen the propaganda and dissemination of laws on marriage and family, especially among young people and ethnic minorities; promote grassroots mediation work, strictly handle violations such as domestic violence and early marriage; strengthen the dissemination and education of laws to improve legal knowledge on marriage and family among local people, promote the role of political and social organizations in mobilizing and educating to build cultural and happy families.
