Binh Thuan commune was recognized as a commune meeting new rural standards in 2022 and is building a model new rural village. The report of the commune leader said: From 2005 to now, in Binh Thuan commune, the State has focused on investing and attracting investment in 47 projects with an area of ​​633.45 hectares (of which 37 projects have been completed and put into operation on 423.12 hectares, 10 projects are being implemented on 210.33 hectares). The number of households relocating their houses and structures is 1,100 (of which 571 households have been relocated in projects that have come into operation, 529 households have been relocated in projects that are being implemented); The number of households relocated outside the commune is 1,013 households, the number of households relocated within the commune is 87 households. Currently, 2 projects are being prepared to be implemented (Hoa Phat Port No. 4 and No. 5 Project 18ha and Hoa Phat Project 12.9ha), the total number of households that need to be relocated in the coming time is about 1,169 households. The commune currently has 5 villages, nearly 3,670 households, nearly 9,300 people, of which 136 are poor households.

The material and spiritual life of the people of Binh Thuan commune has been improved, specifically: Traffic roads are paved with asphalt and concrete for convenient travel to every village road and alley; houses are built solidly and spaciously; means of transportation and audio-visual meet the needs of the people; 100% of households have safe electricity; 100% of households have access to clean water; educational and medical facilities, cultural houses, entertainment venues are invested to meet the needs of the people, especially the issue of job creation and income improvement. In 2023, the total production value will reach about 326 billion VND, an increase of 23.7 billion VND compared to 2022. The growth rate of production value of the main economic sectors will reach: 7.3%. In which, mainly developing industry, handicrafts and trade-services. In the commune, there are 31 small-scale industrial production establishments, 353 commercial-service establishments and most of the people of working age work in enterprises located in the area. Besides the achieved results, the commune is facing certain difficulties. These are: People rely on rainwater for agricultural production, the land is flooded; fishermen mainly catch seafood near the shore while the surrounding area is a seaport, so the lives of people outside of working age are always difficult, the economy mainly depends on children and grandchildren. Commercial-service activities always face difficulties when the state plans the commune to be all industrial land. Some projects are slow to be implemented in the area, affecting people's lives...

Talking with the people of Binh Thuan commune, President Vo Van Thuong expressed his joy at being able to return to Quang Ngai to attend meaningful activities in the province's development, such as the 10th Anniversary of VSIP Quang Ngai and the Announcement of the Quang Ngai Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050; visiting families with meritorious services to the country, policy families, etc. According to the President, Binh Thuan is a key commune of Dung Quat Economic Zone, a commune with many industrial projects that have been and are being implemented, resulting in a large number of people being affected and having to relocate from their places of residence. This is a heavy task, requiring specific and full attention from local Party committees and authorities so that the support for people to change their lives can be effectively implemented. The President was pleased to see that, along with the development of industrial projects, the lives of the people here are making progress, improving, the number of poor households is decreasing rapidly, traffic is convenient, public works are more spacious and complete... However, expressing concern and worry because the number of poor households in Binh Thuan commune is still high, people still face many difficulties in life and production, President Vo Van Thuong noted that Quang Ngai province and Dung Quat Economic Zone Management Board need to have more specific programs and activities to pay attention to developing Binh Thuan into a commune with the fewest poor households; children in the commune have good health, have stable jobs, and can study and develop according to their abilities. The President noted that the functional agencies of the province, district and commune need to try to take care of their children's education, encourage and motivate them to go to school. In addition, enterprises investing in the area need to pay attention and support the education of children of Binh Thuan commune. Paying special attention to the fact that many people have to relocate to serve industrial projects in the province and district, the President noted that district leaders, investors, and businesses need to take care of and provide the best support so that people can move easily and the conversion of people must be carried out according to the motto: The new accommodation must be at least equal to or better than the old place of residence of the people.
