Quang Binh: 1 person died from dengue fever

On September 10, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) of Quang Binh province said that in Minh Hoa district there was 1 death due to dengue fever.

The deceased was Mr. Dinh Minh Th. (born in 1960, Quy Dat town, Minh Hoa district). On September 4, the patient had symptoms of high fever and fatigue. His family took him to Minh Hoa District General Hospital and he tested positive for dengue fever.

On September 7, the patient was transferred to the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi and treated at the Intensive Care and Anti-Poison Department with the diagnosis of "Septic shock-pneumonia-myocarditis/Dengue shock day 4". On the morning of September 8, the patient fell into a coma, the family asked to take him back to his hometown and he passed away at home.

According to Dr. Do Quoc Tiep, Director of CDC Quang Binh, in the past 14 days, the patient has not left Quy Dat town. However, there were 4 cases of fever recorded in the surrounding area, of which 2 cases were treated at private clinics with a diagnosis of viral fever; 2 cases were hospitalized at Minh Hoa District General Hospital with a positive rapid test for dengue fever. These two people, 1 is the wife of patient Th. and 1 is a neighbor (born in 2006), both were saved in time.

In less than a month, Quang Binh has recorded two deaths due to dengue fever. The previous case, as reported by SGGP, was a one-year-old child in Phu Hoa commune, Quang Trach district.

According to Dr. Do Quoc Tiep, the whole province has recorded 1,163 cases of dengue fever, 3.9 times higher than the same period in 2023.
