Peak season
These days, the Tam Ky City Transport and General Business Cooperative is busy preparing for its Tet holiday passenger transport campaign. The cooperative will deploy a total of 42 vehicles to serve passenger travel needs. These include inter-provincial routes from Quang Nam to Kon Tum, Thua Thien Hue, and Quang Tri; and adjacent inter-provincial routes such as Tam Ky - Da Nang, Tien Phuoc - Da Nang, and Nong Son - Da Nang. Fixed intra-provincial routes will depart from Tam Ky to Nam Giang, Phuoc Son, Nong Son, Nam Tra My, Tien Phuoc, and Bac Tra My.
According to Mr. Bui Van Loi, Director of the Tam Ky City Transport and General Business Cooperative, they are maintaining the operation of two inter-provincial bus routes: Tam Ky - Bac Tra My with 14 buses and Tam Ky - Nui Thanh with 5 buses. In addition, the cooperative has registered a total of 3 buses with the Department of Transport to increase passenger capacity in case of emergencies.
"We have instructed drivers and onboard service staff to prepare sufficient tickets for all routes and not to charge fares higher than those registered and declared with the competent management agency. The traffic safety department uses vehicle tracking devices and cameras to promptly remind, correct, and handle drivers who violate regulations," Mr. Loi shared.
According to regulations from the Department of Transport, the passenger transport campaign for Tet (Lunar New Year) this year will run from January 20th to February 17th, 2025 (corresponding to the 21st day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Dragon to the 20th day of the 1st lunar month of the Year of the Snake). Following the directives of the department, Dai Loc bus station has decorated and posted fares for inter-provincial routes at ticket counters, along with lists of seated and sleeper buses, primarily focusing on routes from Dai Loc to Ho Chi Minh City. The bus station management is ready to cooperate with relevant authorities to handle violations such as illegal ticket sales and failure to comply with the directives of the steering committee.
Ensuring safety
According to Mr. Le Quang Hieu, Deputy Director of the Department of Transport, in preparation for the Tet holiday campaign, the department has directed road and inland waterway transport businesses to develop appropriate transport plans and strategies, ensuring sufficient capacity and service quality, and allocating enough vehicles to promptly meet increased demand. They are strictly adhering to legal regulations on business and operating conditions for road transport. Particular attention is being paid to the safety conditions of high-speed passenger vessels transporting passengers from the mainland to the islands on the national inland waterway route Hoi An - Cu Lao Cham.

According to Mr. Le Quang Hieu, another issue that the Department of Transport has directed is to strengthen and proactively coordinate with transport units operating at the terminal to develop a plan for mobilizing vehicles to ensure the transfer and evacuation of passengers in case of sudden vehicle breakdowns or violations. Accordingly, four businesses and cooperatives have registered with the authorities to arrange a total of eight reserve vehicles ranging from 16 to 40 seats, ready to receive orders for transfer and evacuation of passengers if an incident occurs.
Regarding bus operations, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam - Director of QNABUS Transport Service Trading Company Limited, shared that the Tam Ky - Chu Lai Airport bus route will only be temporarily suspended from 6 PM on the 29th day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Dragon until the end of the 3rd day of the 1st lunar month of the Year of the Snake.
According to a representative of Phuong Trang Passenger Transport Joint Stock Company, the operator of two non-subsidized bus routes, LK02 (Hoi An - Da Nang ) and LK21 (Tam Ky - Da Nang), passing through Quang Nam province, on the 29th day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Dragon, the opening time of route LK02 remains unchanged, closing at 9:30 AM (normally closing at 6:00 PM).
Also on the 29th day of the 12th lunar month, the operating hours of route LK21 remain unchanged, closing at 11:00 AM (normally 5:30 PM). The company will temporarily cease operations on the 1st day of Tet. From the 2nd to the 5th day of Tet, buses LK02 and LK21 will operate from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The two aforementioned bus routes will resume normal operation on the 6th day of Tet according to the operating targets and schedules approved by the relevant authorities.
Regarding passenger rail transport, Mr. Vuong Minh Tan, Head of Tam Ky Station, said that the station has been implementing a Tet holiday schedule to serve the peak period from 0:00 on January 15th to 0:00 on February 17th, 2025 (i.e., from the 16th day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Dragon to the 20th day of the 1st lunar month of the Year of the Snake). At Tam Ky station, train SK1 will run on the 4th day of Tet (February 1st, 2025) to Ho Chi Minh City. To date, all tickets for this train, with a capacity of 500 passengers, have been sold out.
