
With the theme “Ensuring food safety, focusing on food safety in collective kitchens, catering services and street food”, the Food Safety Action Month (taking place from April 15 to May 15) is an opportunity for the whole society to look back, evaluate the results achieved and frankly point out the limitations, risks and challenges in ensuring food safety. Thereby, spreading more strongly the responsibility of each individual, organization, business and the entire political system in joining hands to protect public health.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Mai Van Muoi - Director of the Department of Health , Deputy Head of the Provincial Interdisciplinary Steering Committee on Food Safety affirmed that food safety is always an important issue, of special significance to the health, quality of life of each person, each family and the sustainable development of the whole society. "Safe food will contribute greatly to improving health, improving quality of life, contributing to improving the human development index (HDI). Therefore, access to safe food has become a basic right for everyone" - Mr. Muoi emphasized.
At the same time, it is said that in recent times, the work of ensuring food safety has always received the attention and direction of the entire political system from the central to local levels and has created clear changes. However, many shortcomings and limitations still exist. The situation of food poisoning across the country is becoming more complicated, especially food poisoning in collective kitchens of companies, businesses, schools and food poisoning due to street food; e-commerce, food advertising on digital platforms, social networks, and multinational electronic information sites are increasingly popular, posing many potential risks and challenges; the production of counterfeit and poor quality goods is becoming more and more complicated and unpredictable.

In order for the action month to achieve its set goals, according to Mr. Mai Van Muoi, departments, branches and localities need to focus on strengthening and promoting inspection, examination, supervision, propaganda,education , raising awareness, determining the responsibilities and actions of Party committees, Party organizations, cadres, Party members and people to ensure security and food safety in collective kitchens, catering services and street food; resolutely fight, prevent and strictly handle organizations, individuals, production and business establishments that violate food safety regulations.
Companies, enterprises, business households, food production, processing and trading establishments, especially companies and enterprises with collective kitchens, industrial catering establishments, restaurants, eateries and street food businesses need to raise their sense of responsibility, strictly comply with legal regulations on food safety; control quality, ensure the origin of raw materials, hygiene of facilities, equipment and knowledge and practices of managers and people directly processing food.
