On the morning of November 2, Cay Sung bridge (Binh Minh commune, Quang Ngai) was swept away by floodwaters, isolating 316 households with 1,280 people.
The leader of Binh Minh commune informed: "Households were isolated after the collapse of Cay Sung bridge because the remaining path was also cut off by flood. Currently, the locality has reported the incident and is considering using canoes and boats to transport food to the people."
The 12m long, 5m wide Cay Sung Bridge, located on the district road of Binh Son district (old), is a vital route connecting many residential areas. At 5:15 am the same day, when someone was riding a motorbike across the bridge, the flood came quickly, damaging the bridge pillar, leading to its collapse.
"Both the person and the vehicle fell into the water. Luckily, the person knew how to swim and swam to shore. The motorbike was swept away by the flood and has not been found yet," said a leader of Binh Minh commune.
Immediately after the bridge collapsed, upon receiving the information, flood and storm prevention forces of Binh Minh commune quickly arrived at the scene, put up warning ropes and organized a patrol to prohibit all vehicles from moving through the bridge area to ensure safety.
