Quang Tri: Rescue of a sunken fishing boat in Nam Cua Viet

A fishing boat in Nam Cua Viet commune (Quang Tri province) suddenly sank due to the automatic water pumping system being cut off. Trieu Van Border Guard Station mobilized forces to respond promptly and ensure the safety of the vessel.

On the morning of December 5, Trieu Van Border Guard Station ( Quang Tri Province Border Guard) said that the unit had just rescued a fishing boat that sank while anchored at the storm shelter area in Phu Hoi village, Nam Cua Viet commune.

At about 8:30 a.m. the same day, the unit received a report that Mr. Nguyen Van Phuoc's fishing boat (residing in Phu Hoi village) had its automatic water pump device cut off, causing the boat's hold to flood quickly and the vehicle to sink.

Upon receiving the information, Trieu Van Border Guard Station immediately mobilized a working group of 10 officers and soldiers to approach the scene, coordinate with functional forces and local people to deploy rescue measures. The rescue force pulled the ship from the sunken position, reinforced it safely, and prevented the risk of it sinking completely.

Trieu Van Border Guard Station recommends that fishermen increase inspection of safety systems, especially water pumping equipment, when anchoring at storm shelters to limit similar incidents.
