In the first quarter of 2025, budget revenue from import and export activities increased by 9.7%

According to the Customs Department (Ministry of Finance), state budget revenue from import and export activities in March 2025 reached VND 36,098 billion, an increase of 4.6%, equivalent to an increase of VND 1,574 billion compared to the previous month.

Total state budget revenue in the first 3 months of 2025 reached VND 98,495 billion, equal to 24% of the assigned estimate and 21% of the target, up 9.7% (equivalent to an increase of VND 8,712 billion) over the same period in 2024.

The total import and export value of the whole country from January 1 to March 15, 2025 reached 162.78 billion USD, an increase of 12%, equivalent to an increase of 17.46 billion USD compared to the same period in 2024.

Of which, exports reached 82.29 billion USD, up 9.1% (equivalent to an increase of 6.85 billion USD) and imports reached 80.49 billion USD, up 15.2% (equivalent to an increase of 10.61 billion USD). Accumulated to the end of March 15, 2025, the whole country had a trade surplus of 1.81 billion USD.

Regarding anti-smuggling and trade fraud, in the first quarter of 2025, the situation of smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and illegal transportation of goods became complicated, especially during the Lunar New Year. Taking advantage of the high demand for consumer goods, food, and beverages, criminals increased the frequency of their activities to make illegal profits, causing instability in prices and quality of goods, affecting the health of consumers.

The main methods and tricks are to declare incorrect names of goods, units of measurement, and quality of goods, with the aim of applying low prices, reducing the amount of tax payable; declaring names of goods without fully including factors that directly affect the value of goods (brand, size, type, quality, use) leading to the identification of suspicious signs and determining incorrect taxable value...

From December 15, 2024 to March 14, 2025, the Customs sector detected, arrested and handled 3,876 violations, an increase of 11% over the same period in 2024; the value of infringing goods is estimated at VND 8,464.6 billion. The Customs agency transferred 22 cases for prosecution, a decrease of 26.7% over the same period in 2024; the state budget revenue was VND 281.3 billion.

In the field of drug prevention and control, during the same period, the Customs agency presided over and coordinated with the police and border guards to detect and arrest 48 cases and 47 subjects (the Customs agency presided over 17 cases). The seized evidence was 202 kg of various types of drugs.
