Launch of 2 dermatology publications: Academic and clinical practice imprints

On the afternoon of October 2, at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Dermatology - Dermatology held a launching ceremony for two specialized academic works 'Autoimmune bullous skin disease'; 'Procedures and Surgery in Dermatology'.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, the Board of Directors of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, leading experts, lecturers, trainees and medical students. This is not only an event to announce 2 new publications, but also an important milestone affirming the continuous efforts of the Department of Dermatology - Cosmetic Dermatology in connecting research, training and clinical practice, contributing to improving the quality of dermatology in Vietnam.

In his opening speech, Associate Professor - Doctor - Doctor Nguyen Hoang Bac - Director of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, emphasized: "The launching ceremony of the two publications today is not only of academic significance, but also a testament to the spirit of cooperation, knowledge sharing and dedication of the team of lecturers and doctors of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital. This is the result of persistent efforts, contributing to standardizing training, improving the quality of patient care and optimizing treatment results. We believe that the two books will become useful references, accompanying generations of doctors and medical students specializing in dermatology and related specialties in the process of improving clinical skills".

In the solemn atmosphere of the ceremony, the delegates looked back at the dedicated compilation journey of the authors. After nearly 2 years of hard work, the book "Techniques and Surgery in Dermatology" was officially published with 744 color pages, illustrated with a system of intuitive clinical images. The book brings together the contributions of 32 teachers and colleagues from many different fields such as dermatology, cosmetic surgery, anatomy, otolaryngology, oncology, orthopedic trauma, surgery and nursing. The content of the book comprehensively systems procedures and surgeries, from basic techniques such as skin biopsy, keloid treatment, incision, skin suture, to advanced techniques such as skin grafting, hair transplantation, autologous fat transplantation. Not only stopping at technical operations, the work also emphasizes the principles of safety, patient counseling and individualized treatment, which are decisive factors for the effectiveness of clinical practice.

In parallel, the book "Autoimmune Bullous Dermatitis" is the result of more than 4 years of careful compilation, gathering 11 authors from the fields of dermatology, pathology and nursing. The work is 296 pages long in color, focusing on the exploitation of rare diseases with serious prognosis such as pemphigus, bullous pemphigoid, dermatitis herpetiformis or linear IgA disease. The content is presented from pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, diagnostic criteria to updated treatment regimens, while introducing new advances in drug research and patient management. This is a comprehensive monograph, not only useful for specialists but also arousing the passion for learning and research for medical students and trainees.

According to Associate Professor - Doctor - Doctor Le Thai Van Thanh, Head of the Department of Dermatology - Cosmetic Dermatology, editor of the two books, expressed his emotion when looking back at the challenging journey to get to today: "We want to bring to colleagues and students a standard source of documents, both updated and practical. These two publications will be a companion for doctors and medical students in the process of studying and practicing, and at the same time, a testament to the spirit of interdisciplinary cooperation, towards the common goal: improving the quality of care and bringing Vietnamese dermatology closer to international standards".
