Yamaha updated its Ténéré 700 and 700 Rally adventure bikes nearly a year ago, but at the time it didn't mention the World Raid long-distance version. However, Yamaha has significantly improved its Ténéré 700 World Raid off-road model in 2026, installing a 6-axis IMU motion sensor, changing the seat and suspending the whole thing with all-new fully adjustable KYB springs.
The heart of the car is still the familiar CP2 689cc parallel 2-cylinder engine, producing 73.4PS at 9,000 rpm and 68Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine is now mated to an electronic throttle – unlocking two power modes, as well as cruise control and a speed limiter. Additionally, the clutch engagement point has been moved forward by 35 degrees. Additionally, the bike features a new clutch housing designed to create more space for the right leg when sitting or standing. The gearbox has also been tweaked for smoother shifting, with the ability to equip an optional up/down quickshifter if required. To control performance both on and off-road, the World Raid is now also equipped with a six-axis IMU sensor for the tilt-sensitive electronic systems, including traction control, skid control and cornering ABS.
Unfortunately, the IMU sensor is absent on the standard Ténéré 700, which measures the angle of the bike to control the amount of traction the rider can apply. Both the traction control system (TCS) and the skid control system (SCS) can be set to “Street”, “Off-Road” or turned off completely to vary the amount of slip that can be achieved with each throttle input. Like the current World Raid, ABS can be configured for both wheels, just the front, or completely off – depending on the terrain. New braided steel lines work in conjunction with Brembo front brake calipers and 282mm brake discs. In addition to the suspension, the dual aluminum fuel tanks have also been tweaked. With a total capacity of 23 liters, the tank is now 1.5 kg lighter and can travel approximately 500 km without needing to be refilled.
The bike’s design has also been tweaked for better ergonomics – combined with a new one-piece racing seat that makes the transition from seated to standing easier. New fully adjustable KYB suspension – comprising 46mm Kashima upside-down forks with improved spring and damping settings, and a monoshock with 106mm of travel (up 5mm from before). In total, the World Raid has 230mm of travel up front and 220mm at the rear – 20mm more than the standard version. Ground clearance remains at 255mm, with 21-inch spoked wheels up front and 18-inch spoked wheels at the rear for added handling. A new 16-speed power steering completes the package. Sitting in the driver's seat, you'll also find a new 6.3-inch vertical TFT color display, which has 'Street', 'Explorer' and 'Raid' themes to display different information depending on the driving situation. It can connect to your mobile phone via USB-C and has redesigned handlebar grips.
Expected to be available at dealers from March 2026 with two optional color options: the striking Redline White and the powerful, rugged Midnight Black, the price of the Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid is expected to be slightly higher than the current version.
