On October 28, information from the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department said that they had received, cared for, raised and processed according to regulations a striped-necked turtle voluntarily handed over by Mr. Pham Van Tien (in Ba Diem commune).
Mr. Pham Van Tien said that at noon, while selling fruit, he discovered a turtle crawling along the edge of the road.
He caught the turtle and then contacted the forestry department, hoping that the animal would be cared for and released back into the wild.
Forest rangers from the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department initially identified this as a striped-necked turtle, weighing about 1.7 kg, with the scientific name Mauremys sinensis , listed in Appendix III of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).

On the afternoon of October 27, the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department also received, cared for, raised and processed according to regulations a Java pangolin voluntarily handed over by Mr. Ta Thien Thai (in An Lac ward).
Mr. Ta Thien Thai said that at around 11pm, he was in front of his house when he discovered a strange animal crawling on the side of the road. His relatives thought it might be a pangolin, a rare animal. After looking up more information online, they confirmed that it was indeed a pangolin.
At this time, he and his relatives caught the animal and then contacted the forestry agency, hoping that the animal would be released back into the wild.
Forest rangers identified this as a Java pangolin, scientific name Manis javanica . The male Java pangolin weighs about 5kg, belongs to group IB in the list of endangered, precious, and rare species according to Circular 27/2025/TT-BNNMT of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment .
