The cherry blossom season at O Long Sa Pa tea hill this year has a special meaning, because this will be the last time visitors can admire this scene before the area is converted into an ecological urban area. This information has brought many regrets to those who love the natural beauty here.

The legendary scene is about to become a memory
In early December every year, when the northeast monsoon brings cold mist to Sa Pa, the O Long tea hills put on a brilliant pink coat of cherry blossoms. Rows of trees are planted alternately, running along the green tea beds, creating a harmonious and vibrant natural picture.
Many visitors who have come here during the blooming season are overwhelmed by the sight of the soft pink arches hanging down, blending with the endless green of the tea hills. This scene is often compared to a miniature corner of Japan in the heart of Sa Pa, both romantic and bringing a sense of peace and tranquility.

The story behind the cherry blossoms
Mr. Hoang Trung Hieu, a local resident, said the main purpose of this area is to grow tea to generate income. The cherry trees were planted according to the model of Taiwanese experts with the original purpose of holding the soil and preventing erosion.
This model of combining tea hills and cherry blossom trees was brought from Yunnan, China, to Sa Pa after realizing that the soil here is very suitable. Although tourism is not yet the main strength, the unique beauty of the tea hills still attracts many photographers and tourists to come when the flowers come.

Practical experience for the ultimate trip
Ideal timing
The cherry blossom season usually starts in early December and lasts until the end of January. However, the most beautiful and brilliant blooming time is only in the first 2 to 3 weeks of December. This is also the time when tourists and photographers gather the most.
According to Mr. Hieu’s experience, the ideal time to take photos is around 2 p.m., when the sunlight is high, helping the flowers become the most vibrant and colorful. If you want to hunt clouds and watch flowers, visitors should come early in the morning (from 7 a.m.) or late in the afternoon (until 4 p.m.).

Costs and Notes
Oolong Tea Hill is not an official tourist area so there is no entrance fee. Visitors often buy a pound of tea as a way to show their gratitude and are free to take photos. In the fresh air, visitors can stroll under the flower canopy, smell the aroma of young tea and enjoy the peace of the Northwest mountains and forests, temporarily separating themselves from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
