Sa Pa is gradually standardizing its team of drivers providing transportation services to tourists in the tourist area.

In 2023, Sa Pa town focused on organizing training courses to update information on traffic management and communication and behavioral skills for drivers serving tourists in the area. The participants in these training courses were drivers of taxis, electric vehicles, and contract tourist vehicles from passenger transport businesses in Sa Pa town, aiming to prepare for welcoming tourists during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year) to build a friendly, hospitable, civilized, and courteous image of Sa Pa tourism.

During the training sessions, participants were provided with general knowledge about the economic and social development situation and cultural and tourism events in the town. Representatives from the Sa Pa town police disseminated and emphasized the implementation of traffic regulations according to Joint Circular No. 19/2015/TTLT-BGTVT-BVHTTDL dated May 25, 2015, issued by the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, guiding the transportation of tourists by automobile and the issuance of license plates for tourist transport vehicles; emphasized compliance with traffic flow plans and regulations on parking in Sa Pa town; and provided training on communication skills, etiquette, and handling communication situations in transporting and serving tourists in Sa Pa town.

Mr. Nguyen Hoai Nam, Deputy Head of the Culture and Information Department of Sa Pa town, delivered the opening remarks at the training course on skills, communication, and conduct for drivers transporting and serving tourists in Sa Pa town in 2023.

Sa Pa always hopes that each taxi and electric vehicle driver will gradually be standardized, and training courses will support the taxi and electric vehicle drivers in terms of communication awareness. Through these courses, the taxi drivers in Sa Pa will also gain a better understanding of some policies and directions for tourism development in the locality.”

With easily memorable and understandable information disseminated to drivers serving tourists in the town, they have gained more understanding, knowledge, and communication skills regarding interaction with tourists, as well as information about the socio -economic and tourism development of Sa Pa to provide and share with tourists. Through these training sessions, management has been strengthened, the professionalism of transportation service businesses serving tourists has been enhanced, and pricing for transportation services in Sa Pa town has become more transparent, following the motto "Safe driving - professional service - civilized behavior". Mr. Phung Chan Phu, a Dao ethnic minority resident of Sin Chai A village, Muong Bo commune, Sa Pa town, and a driver for Vu Lam One-Member Limited Liability Company (Taxi Tay Bac), shared: “For each driver from an ethnic minority group, through the training sessions organized by the Sa Pa Town People's Committee, we have been equipped with legal knowledge and can pass it on to our fellow drivers so that our work can improve.”

Training courses for drivers in Sa Pa town attract a large number of participants.

Currently, in Sa Pa town, there are 8 units operating passenger transport services using four-wheeled motor vehicles with over 200 electric vehicle and taxi drivers. Organizing training sessions to disseminate current laws and equip drivers with communication and interpersonal skills is extremely important. This contributes to spreading awareness, ensuring tourism security, creating a healthy competitive environment, and, through the taxi and electric vehicle drivers, promoting and providing basic information, unique characteristics, and tourism information to tourists visiting the Sa Pa National Tourist Area.
