This is an important project of the Ministry of Public Security , not only having strategic significance in terms of security and defense but also marking a step forward in the development of traffic infrastructure and security in the Bac Ninh region.
Gia Binh Airport is included in the Master Plan for the development of the national airport system for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister. This airport project belongs to the People's Public Security Air Force Regiment, located in Xuan Lai commune, Gia Binh district, Bac Ninh province with a planning area of about 1.25 km2; 25 km from Bac Ninh city, 40 km from Hoan Kiem Lake (Hanoi), 25 km from Hai Duong city and 40 km from Bac Giang city.
In the first phase, Gia Binh airport will be built with a 1,500m runway, on an area of about 125 hectares in Xuan Lai commune and Gia Binh town. This will be a specialized airport, serving security and defense needs, especially supporting the tasks of the Ministry of Public Security.
After completing phase 1, phase 2 of the project will expand the airport with the goal of extending the runway from 1,500m to 3.05m, while also constructing the airport terminal and necessary auxiliary items. With an additional land use scale of about 120 hectares, this phase will contribute to completing and improving the airport's operational capacity, meeting greater transportation needs and serving defense activities. This is a key project of the Ministry of Public Security and has received special attention from Party and State leaders.
Gia Binh Airport project is not only a key project for national security and defense but also a testament to the synchronous development of infrastructure in Bac Ninh province. The construction of this airport will contribute to improving the ability to respond to emergency situations, protecting national security, and at the same time opening up opportunities for economic development and transport infrastructure for this land.
