Vietnam has 7 swimmers competing this morning, including: Nguyen Huy Hoang, Tran Van Nguyen Quoc (men's 200m freestyle), Vo Thi My Tien, Nguyen Ngoc Tuyet Han (women's 400m individual medley), Duong Van Hoang Quy, Nguyen Viet Tuong (men's 100m butterfly) and Nguyen Thuy Hien (women's 100m breaststroke).

In the men's 200m freestyle qualifying round, Nguyen Huy Hoang finished 4th with a time of 1 minute 51 seconds 69, while Tran Van Nguyen Quoc finished 8th with a time of 1 minute 52 seconds 23. Both Vietnamese swimmers have qualified for the final taking place tonight.

Huy Hoang and Quang Thuan win gold medals, Vietnamese swimming team close to achieving its target at SEA Games 33.
The 200m freestyle is not Huy Hoang's forte; the swimmer nicknamed "The Otter of the Gianh River" is strong in long-distance events such as the 1,500m, 8,000m, and 400m.
However, at the 32nd SEA Games in 2023, Huy Hoang won a bronze medal in the 200m freestyle with a fairly good time.

Having just won two gold medals in the 1,500m freestyle and the 4x200m freestyle relay, Vietnam's number one swimmer is expected to perform brilliantly in the final, hoping to change the color of his medal in the 200m freestyle event.
Meanwhile, in the women's 400m individual medley qualifying round, Vo Thi My Tien finished 4th with a time of 5 minutes 04 seconds 50, while Nguyen Ngoc Tuyet Han ranked 6th with a time of 5 minutes 07 seconds 93.

Seventeen-year-old swimmer Nguyen Thuy Hien finished 6th in the women's 100m breaststroke qualifying round with a time of 1 minute 11 seconds 56.
In addition, Duong Van Hoang Quy and Nguyen Viet Tuong failed to qualify for the men's 100m butterfly event.
Prior to the competition on December 13th, Vietnamese swimming had won 5 gold medals. The team's goal for the Games in Thailand was to win 6 gold medals.
