Vietnam has 8 swimmers competing in 4 finals tonight: men's 400m individual medley (Tran Hung Nguyen, Nguyen Quang Thuan), men's 1500m freestyle (Nguyen Huy Hoang, Mai Tran Tuan Anh), women's 400m freestyle (Vo Thi My Tien, Nguyen Kha Nhi) and women's 100m freestyle (Pham Thi Van, Nguyen Thuy Hien).

In the men's 400m individual medley final, Nguyen Quang Thuan, the younger brother of swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien, excellently finished first with a time of 4 minutes 19 seconds 98, surpassing his senior Tran Hung Nguyen (who finished second with a time of 4 minutes 25 seconds 45) to win the gold medal.
It's worth noting that at the 32nd SEA Games in 2023, Quang Thuan finished second behind Hung Nguyen, and this time, the young swimmer surpassed his senior to win the gold medal.

In the men's 1,500m freestyle final, Vietnam's number one swimmer and reigning SEA Games champion, Nguyen Huy Hoang, delivered an impressive performance.
In the first 1,000 meters, the swimmer nicknamed "Gianh River Otter" faced fierce competition from 15-year-old talent Russel Pang (Singapore).

But then, Huy Hoang asserted his dominance by increasing his speed, leaving his rivals far behind, finishing first, and winning the gold medal with a time of 15 minutes 19 seconds 58.
Meanwhile, young talent Mai Tran Tuan Anh also performed brilliantly, overcoming opponent Russel Pang to finish second and win the silver medal.

Besides the two gold medals won by Huy Hoang and Quang Thuan, Nguyen Thuy Hien won a bronze medal in the women's 100m freestyle with a time of 57.40 seconds; Vo Thi My Tien finished third in the women's 400m freestyle and won a bronze medal with a time of 4 minutes and 17 seconds.
Thus, after 3 days of competition, Vietnamese swimming has won 5 gold medals. It is known that the team's target when participating in the Games in Thailand was 6 gold medals.
Vietnamese swimming still has many events where expectations are high, and the team's swimmers will do their best to achieve, or even surpass, the set targets.
