After winning 4 gold medals on the first day of competition at the 33rd SEA Games , the Vietnamese sports delegation could achieve even better results on December 11th when its strong athletics team begins to compete, alongside other sports that could bring in many gold medals such as swimming, gymnastics, rowing, jujitsu, judo, karate...
Most notably, athletics is considered a "gold mine" for Vietnamese sports . At the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnamese athletics team aims to win over 14 gold medals to compete for the top spot with host country Thailand.

On December 11th, the Vietnamese athletics team competed in eight events. Vietnam had high hopes for gold medals in the men's triple jump, men's and women's 1500m races, etc., but in shorter distances like the men's and women's 100m races, Vietnamese athletics found it difficult to win gold medals against strong regional competitors.
Besides athletics, the swimming team is predicted to bring more gold medals to the Vietnamese sports delegation on the second day of competition. In rowing, Vietnam is competing in 3 final events and is also expected to win gold medals.
Gymnastics, with 4 finals, is expected to contribute at least 1-2 gold medals to the Vietnamese sports delegation. Meanwhile, in Jujitsu, Vietnamese athletes are determined to win gold with 6 finals. Other sports that could contribute gold medals include judo, cycling, karate, taekwondo, and MMA...
In particular, the highlight of the December 11th competition day for the Vietnamese sports delegation was the two crucial matches of the Vietnam U22 team (against Malaysia U22) and the Vietnam women's team (against Myanmar). While the Vietnam U22 team only needed a draw to advance, the Vietnam women's team absolutely had to win to secure a place in the semi-finals of the SEA Games 33.
