On September 1 (Vietnam time), former Spanish national team star Sergio Ramos suddenly released the MV “CIBELES” on his Youtube channel. The song is the sentiment of the legendary Real Madrid midfielder when remembering the days of attachment to the club and his regretful departure to fans.

He had previously announced the release of his debut single on social media platforms. Along with a snippet from the music video was the description “My story, my music”.

The name “CIBELES” is a reference to Plaza de Cibeles, a square in the Spanish capital where Ramos celebrated many of his biggest career victories with Los Blancos.

Ramos sings in his native Spanish, seemingly alluding to his emotional departure in 2020: “There are things I never told you, but they still hurt me. I never wanted to leave you, you told me to fly away.”

The MV takes a minimalist but powerful narrative approach when the former Spain captain appears in a simple outfit, sitting holding a rosary. Interspersed with that image are black and white clips like footage of his memories when remembering his days at Real Madrid.

The 39-year-old midfielder’s musical debut has attracted a lot of attention from football fans. Besides, there are also many mixed opinions when fans want the “Los Blancos” legend to focus on playing football.

Ramos left boyhood club Sevilla earlier this year to join Mexican Liga MX side Monterrey, and the 39-year-old has made a strong start to his time in Mexico, scoring three goals in 12 appearances.
