The make-up class for Friday (January 2nd) will be conducted online or on the following Saturday to ensure the program is completed.
However, on the evening of December 9th, Mr. Ho Tan Minh, Chief of the Office of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, affirmed that the New Year's Day holiday for the education sector follows the general regulations of the whole country, without exception compared to other sectors.
Specifically, according to the Labor Code, New Year's Day (January 1st) is an official holiday for workers and students nationwide.
In 2026, New Year's Day falls on a Thursday. Therefore, teachers and students at all levels (preschool, primary, secondary, and high school) in Ho Chi Minh City will have an official day off (Thursday, January 1, 2026). They will return to school as usual on Friday (January 2, 2026).
