It is not uncommon for many wealthy people to decide not to leave their huge fortunes to their children. However, this has long been a controversial topic as many people would rather leave their fortunes to their kittens than their children.
Recently, a similar story also happened in China and received much attention from internet users. Accordingly, a woman surnamed Liu in China recently surprised her relatives when she decided to change her will.
Ms. Liu is said to have left her children out of her will, instead of dividing the money among her three children, she designated her dogs and cats as the recipients of her $2.8 million (about 68 billion VND) estate.
Ms. Liu decided to leave her 68 billion fortune to her pet.
After the story was published, many people were extremely skeptical of Ms. Liu’s decision. Explaining her actions, she said that she did so because her children rarely visited her even when she was seriously ill. Meanwhile, her pets were always by her side and helped her feel less lonely. The abandonment of her children made her reconsider and change her will.
Upon hearing Ms. Liu's explanation, many people on social media expressed their agreement with her choice and said that they would do the same if their children abandoned them.
Although it is technically illegal to leave assets to pets, Ms. Liu's assets are said to be sent to a pet hospital and a designated person will oversee the clinic to avoid any misappropriation or exploitation of her assets.
Being abandoned by her children caused her to change her will.
An official from the East China branch of the China Will Registration Center said they had warned Ms Liu about the risks of giving all her money to the pet clinic before she made her final will and said she could always change the will again.
"We told Aunt Liu that if her children change their attitude towards her, she can always change her mind again."
It is known that leaving all assets to pets or people who are not related by blood is no longer too strange. Previously, the world- famous designer Karl Lagerfeld also left assets worth 1.5 million USD to his cat Choupette, while the Hermes heir - Nicolas Puech adopted a gardener and left a fortune of billions of euros to this person.
