Exciting and useful activities at the Festival of Typical Families in the provinces and cities of the Southwest region

On August 16th, at the Dong Thap Provincial Labor Union Cultural Center, various activities took place simultaneously as part of the "5th Annual Festival of Exemplary Families of the Southwestern Provinces and Cities in 2024," directed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People's Committee of Dong Thap Province, and organized by the Office of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Thap Province.

The Exemplary Family Festival of the Southwestern provinces and cities is a cultural event celebrating exemplary families, held annually to honor, preserve, and promote the fine traditional cultural values ​​of Vietnamese families in general and families in the Southwestern region in particular.

Accordingly, many meaningful, rich, and diverse activities such as cultural and artistic competitions, and sports competitions, including: the "Talented Family" art performance competition with skits about family; the "Colorful Family" fashion show competition; the "Delicious Weekend Dishes" cooking competition; the "Reading with Your Child" competition; and the "Playing with Your Child" physical activity competition... took place enthusiastically with the participation and interaction of 63 families from 13 provinces in the Southwestern region, along with the enthusiastic cheers of a large number of locals and tourists.

With the theme "Happy Family, Prosperous Nation," the activities organized at the festival not only bring joy and strengthen bonds between families but also help spread the unique cultural values ​​of different regions, providing an opportunity to promote the image and people of Dong Thap - the "Land of Pink Lotus" - "compassionate, dynamic, creative, cultured, and civilized."

The "Playing with Children" sports competition is one of five events within the framework of this year's Exemplary Family Day activities in the Southwestern provinces and cities. Each team sends one family to participate in the "Picking Lotus Together" sports competition, with three members: father, mother, and child. Families with participating children must be between 8 and 18 years old.

Regarding the competition, each family member will take turns completing the following challenges: 10-meter sack race, crossing a bamboo bridge, moving to a spot to pick lotus seeds, then returning, crossing the bamboo bridge again, and placing them in a basket. This competition requires each family member to coordinate flexibly and smoothly, creating strong bonds to achieve the highest score.

A large number of spectators and tourists participated in cheering and supporting the families in the various competition segments.

All the families clearly demonstrated their effort and determination to win in each competition segment.

The overwhelming emotions of a family after the competition ended.

In the "Weekend Delicacies" cooking competition, teams will prepare one signature dish that is a specialty of their province or city. Teams will prepare their own ingredients. Ingredients must be fresh, clean, and meet food safety and hygiene standards. Teams may use pre-prepared, marinated, and uncooked ingredients; the use of local ingredients is encouraged.

According to the organizers, the family meal is the soul of reunion and love, nurturing the human spirit, connecting emotions, bonding family members, creating a warm family atmosphere, and dispelling the fatigue and worries of life.

At the competition, each team had 60 minutes to prepare a family meal, featuring dishes characteristic of their respective localities, all attractively and appealingly presented.

Through the exciting experiences during the festival, the Organizing Committee hopes that delegates and visitors will cherish beautiful memories of the culture and people of Dong Thap, embodying the spirit of "Kindness - Dynamism - Creativity".

Based on the results, the Organizing Committee will announce and award prizes including: 1 First Prize, 2 Second Prizes, 3 Third Prizes and 7 Consolation Prizes to families who achieved outstanding results in the following competition categories: Art performance "Talented Family"; Fashion show "Colorful Family"; Cooking competition "Delicious Weekend Dishes"; and "Reading with Children" competition.

In the "Playing with Your Child" physical activity game competition, the organizing committee will award 1 First Prize, 1 Second Prize, 2 Third Prizes, and 9 Consolation Prizes to outstanding families. Additionally, the organizing committee will also award 1 First Prize, 1 Second Prize, and 1 Third Prize to the teams with the highest overall scores.

In addition, to create a playground for families and tourists, the festival also organizes a photo exhibition "Family - A Loving Home" from provinces and cities in the Southwestern region, displays OCOP products from provinces and cities in the Southwestern region, and offers tours of typical historical, cultural, and tourist sites in Dong Thap province…
