Son La plans to send 5,000 workers abroad to sustainably reduce poverty.

According to the leaders of Son La province, in the period of 2020 - 2024, Son La province organized to send more than 1,100 people to work in the markets of Japan, Taiwan (China), Korea... Average income is about 25-35 million VND/person/month.

The leaders of the People's Committee of Son La province said that the lives of people in the province are still difficult, creating stable jobs and increasing income for people, especially young people in remote areas and ethnic minority areas, is always an urgent task. Therefore, the project to send workers to work abroad under contracts for the period 2025-2030 is one of the key solutions in the locality's sustainable poverty reduction strategy.

According to the project, in the period 2025-2030, Son La strives to send 5,000 workers to work abroad under contracts, of which about 700 workers will go abroad in 2026 alone. Priority will be given to rural youth, ethnic minorities, poor and near-poor households.

"It is worth noting that the project does not stop at creating temporary jobs but aims at sustainable development. After completing the labor contract, at least 70% of workers will have stable jobs or create their own jobs locally," the leader of the People's Committee of Son La province emphasized.

Many young people who have returned have accumulated capital, skills and industrial working style, becoming the core force in developing household economy , contributing to spreading the spirit of legitimate enrichment and effective poverty reduction in the community.

The People's Committee of Son La province assigned the Department of Home Affairs of Son La to be the focal point to coordinate with reputable enterprises in the field of sending workers to work abroad, ensuring the selection, supporting procedures and strict labor management. Departments, branches and localities also actively integrate the project with national target programs on sustainable poverty reduction and socio-economic development in ethnic minority areas.
