Tan Chau Town People's Committee said that in the first 5 months of 2025, the authorities discovered and handled 29 violations, involving 17 subjects, with a total value of goods of about 218 million VND. Of which, the most were foreign cigarettes, firecrackers, western medicine, consumer goods and imported natural sand with violations in tax declaration.
“In terms of tricks, the subjects often take advantage of the late night, divide the goods into small pieces, use people to guard the road to transport them through points such as Hamlet 5, Vinh Xuong Commune or Tan Chau - Hong Ngu ferry terminal. The goods are always gathered on the other side of the border, waiting for the opportunity to be transported across the border and into the interior for consumption” - Chairman of Tan Chau Town People's Committee, Head of Tan Chau Town High Point Working Group Nguyen Thanh Lam, shared.

In addition to key areas in border areas, the form of trading goods via social networks is also emerging with many risks. Many individuals use online platforms to sell goods of unknown origin, fake goods, and poor quality goods, making it difficult to control. In addition to increasing inspections at stores and border areas, propaganda work to raise people's awareness has been promoted. Associations have actively encouraged members and people to "not support smuggling" and respond to the campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods". "Smuggling subjects are increasingly sophisticated, frequently changing routes, ready to destroy goods, leave vehicles, evidence or escape at high speed when being chased" - Mr. Tran Hoang Tam, Deputy Captain, Market Management Team No. 5, Deputy Head of Steering Committee 389 of the town shared.
During the peak month (from May 15 to June 15, 2025), implementing the Prime Minister's Official Dispatch 65/CD-TTg, Tan Chau Town urgently established a special task force, issued a plan and resolutely implemented the peak period of fighting to prevent and repel crimes of smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and goods infringing intellectual property rights. The entire political system has taken action in a synchronous and rhythmic manner, creating a clear change in the town. "Farmers are very afraid of fake and poor quality fertilizers because when we buy fake goods, we lose money, time and effort, and production efficiency is zero. We request that the authorities continue to maintain market inspection and control to eliminate poor quality goods" - Ms. Tran Thi Le, Phu Vinh Commune proposed.
In the coming time, to continue to control smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the area, the Steering Committee 389 of the town has directed functional forces to strengthen coordination, especially in border areas and key waterways and ferry terminals. Proactively grasp the situation, promptly detect suspicious subjects; strictly handle acts of trading and transporting livestock and poultry of unknown origin and not yet quarantined. Improve the effectiveness of investigation, handling of violations, strictly handle recidivism cases; resolutely handle officials who assist in smuggling. Continue to promote propaganda and legaleducation to people and businesses; mobilize people not to assist in smuggling, say no to counterfeit and smuggled goods.
