The State Bank has collected about 600,000 suspicious accounts, promptly alerting users, with a total amount of undamaged money of about 1,500 billion VND. The figures show that fraud and scams are increasingly sophisticated. Therefore, it is necessary to have measures to propagate and raise awareness for users to ensure safety in payment.
Opening accounts, using cards, or using online banking…., hundreds of students are being guided and familiarized with modern digital payment solutions. Each student also draws their own experiences to avoid risks when making payments.
Student Pham Hoang Thanh Hieu said: "I am not allowed to access external applications and scan strange links."
Ms. Pham Thi Thuy Duong - Student shared: "Now, I use a card integrated into my phone, just tap to pay, no need to worry about revealing card information".
Many banks also recommend that users use cards integrated into digital banking applications. This method helps prevent the theft of information on physical cards when swiping payment cards or withdrawing money at ATMs, as has happened before.
Mr. Dang Cong Hoan - Deputy General Director of LPBank commented: "If we hold a physical card, it is usually easy to lose or leak data information during the holding process. But if we use virtual card information via phone or electronic means, the security will be higher because it will be more difficult to give information to a third party."
However, in the context of strong development of digital payments, card fraud and payment risks are also becoming more and more complicated. Currently, criminals tend to attack users' psychology and manipulate their behavior. Therefore, the State Bank requires banks to strengthen warnings and detect suspicious transactions.
Ms. Phan Thi Thanh Nhan - Director of BIDV Card and Operation Center said: "We analyze, evaluate and control real transactions. For example, if you are sitting here but a large amount of money is generated in a remote location, it is very likely that your information is being leaked somewhere. At that time, we will have timely information prevention measures to limit risks for customers."
The State Bank of Vietnam’s report shows that since applying biometrics and cleaning data, the number of personal accounts receiving fraudulent money has decreased by more than 50%. However, scammers tend to switch to scamming using accounts of organizations and businesses. Therefore, users need to be extremely vigilant.
