Expected to introduce 217 people in the Central to run for National Assembly deputies

The delegates voted to approve the total number of candidates nominated for the 16th National Assembly by central agencies, organizations and units to be 217.

On December 4, in Hanoi , the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front held the first consultation conference to discuss the structure, composition, and number of people from central agencies, organizations, and units nominated to run for the 16th National Assembly.

Attending the Conference were Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Vice Chairwoman of the National Election Council, Head of the Election Steering Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

Attending the Conference were Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh, member of the National Election Council, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra, and representatives of leaders of central ministries and branches.

The delegates voted to approve the total number of candidates nominated for the 16th National Assembly by central agencies, organizations and units to be 217. The conference also voted to approve the expected structure, composition and number of people from the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations, social organizations, socio-professional organizations, armed forces and central state agencies to be nominated for the 16th National Assembly.

According to the regulations, the consultation conference will be held three times. The first consultation conference at each level will be held between December 1, 2025 and December 10, 2025; the second consultation will be held between February 2, 2026 and February 3, 2026. The third consultation will be held between February 9, 2026 and February 20, 2026.

According to Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Bui Thi Minh Hoai, recently, the Politburo, the Secretariat, the National Election Council, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, the Government, the Prime Minister, the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and departments, ministries and branches have issued many documents providing leadership, direction and guidance on election work.

The National Election Council and the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front held a nationwide in-person and online conference to train officials and people directly involved in election work.

"It can be assessed that up to this point, the work is being carried out in accordance with regulations and the set time schedule," affirmed President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Bui Thi Minh Hoai.

Chairwoman Bui Thi Minh Hoai emphasized that organizing the Consultative Conference and introducing candidates for the National Assembly and People's Council is a very important task in the election process, to agree on the structure, composition and number of representatives of agencies, organizations and units to be introduced as candidates for the National Assembly and People's Council. At the same time, make a preliminary list and select and make an official list of candidates for the National Assembly and People's Council at all levels.
