The first consultative conference introduced candidates for the 16th National Assembly.

Attending the Conference were comrades: Politburo member, President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Vice President of the National Election Council, Head of the Election Steering Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Bui Thi Minh Hoai; Party Central Committee member, Vice President of the National Assembly, Member of the National Election Council Nguyen Thi Thanh; Party Central Committee member, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra; Non-professional Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Ha Thi Khiet (former Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, former Head of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization); Non-professional Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thi Doan (former member of the Central Committee of the Party, former Vice President).

Also attending were comrades of the Party Central Committee, former members of the Party Central Committee, leaders of central agencies; representatives of the Office of the President, the Office of the Government , the Office of the National Assembly, the Committees of the National Assembly, the Party Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, central organizations; comrades of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, 10th tenure; representatives of leaders of member organizations of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

In her opening speech, Politburo member, Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Vice Chairwoman of the National Election Council Bui Thi Minh Hoai stated: The election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term is a major political event of the country; a broad democratic activity among the people to promote mastery, select exemplary and worthy people, representing the will, aspirations and mastery of the people. Seriously and promptly grasping the direction of the Politburo, election preparation work is being carried out closely, uniformly and proactively from the Central to local levels, creating an important foundation for the successful organization of the election of deputies to the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels to be held on March 15, 2026. The success of the election depends on many factors, including the extremely important role and responsibility of the Vietnam Fatherland Front system.

According to Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai, in recent times, the Politburo, the Secretariat, the National Election Council, the National Assembly Standing Committee, the Government, the Prime Minister, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee and departments, ministries and branches have issued many documents on leadership, direction and guidance on election work. The National Election Council, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee have organized a nationwide online and in-person conference to train officials and those directly involved in election work. It can be assessed that up to this point, the work is being carried out in accordance with the regulations and time schedule set out.

Organizing consultation and introducing candidates for National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies is a very important task in the election organization process, to agree on the structure, composition and number of delegates of agencies, organizations and units recommended to run for National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies, at the same time making a preliminary list and selecting and making an official list of candidates for National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels.

According to regulations, to ensure democracy and select representative candidates for National Assembly and People's Council deputies, the consultative conference will be held three times. The first consultative conference at each level will be held from December 1 to 10, 2025; the second consultative conference will be held from February 2 to 3, 2026. The third consultative conference will be held from February 9 to 20, 2026.

To carry out the election in accordance with the law, with a spirit of democracy, objectivity, frankness, construction, and high responsibility, Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Bui Thi Minh Hoai hopes that delegates will give their opinions on the plan of the National Assembly Standing Committee and the Submission of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front on the structure, composition, and number of people in the Central Committee recommended to run for the 14th National Assembly.

The conference listened to Mr. Nguyen Huu Dong, member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly Deputies' Affairs Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Organization Committee, present the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the expected number of people from political organizations, socio-political organizations, social organizations, people's armed forces, and central state agencies to be nominated as candidates for the 16th National Assembly. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President - General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, presented the Report of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front on the expected number of people from political organizations, socio-political organizations, social organizations, people's armed forces, and central state agencies to be nominated as candidates for the 16th National Assembly.
