Strengthening fire prevention, firefighting and rescue work using VTC digital platform

VTC Corporation and the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department signed a cooperation agreement on disseminating legal knowledge and skills in fire prevention, firefighting, and rescue on the VTC digital platform.

Attending the event were Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Phan Tam, along with representatives from functional units of the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Public Security , the Hanoi City People's Committee, the Hoan Kiem District People's Committee, and others.

According to statistics from the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, in the first six months of 2024, there were 2,222 fires nationwide, resulting in 57 deaths, 45 injuries, and estimated property damage of approximately 127.9 billion VND. Compared to the same period in 2023, the number of fires increased by 361. Fires mainly occurred in urban areas, with residential buildings still accounting for the highest percentage. Of the 1,299/2,222 fires whose causes were investigated, fires caused by electrical system and equipment malfunctions accounted for 72.9%.

The collaborative program "Disseminating legal knowledge and skills in fire prevention and rescue on the VTC digital platform" between the units marks an important step in applying digital technology to the dissemination of legal knowledge on fire prevention and rescue, as well as equipping people with the necessary skills to proactively prevent and respond to fire and explosion incidents and accidents.

Specifically, VTC will collaborate with the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department to provide a digital education and training platform, producing, communicating, and widely disseminating useful digital knowledge about fire prevention and rescue to the community. This platform will have broad access to a large number of people and will be an effective tool to measure the level of interest and understanding based on people's learning data. It will also serve as a reporting and analytical tool for managing and implementing measures to improve knowledge and skills in fire prevention and rescue.

The Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department is responsible for the professional content and evaluation of digital learning materials developed by VTC Corporation.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Phan Tam said that the signing of the cooperation agreement between VTC Corporation and the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department is an important step in the dissemination of fire prevention and rescue information. It also reflects the Hoan Kiem District People's Committee's commitment to disseminating fire prevention and rescue knowledge to the local population, contributing to the protection of community lives and property.

Deputy Minister Phan Tam stated that Vietnam is undergoing a vibrant process of development, industrialization, modernization, and urbanization. Alongside the positive aspects, rapid urbanization has led to increasing population density in urban areas, while planning and infrastructure remain inadequate, posing potential risks of fires, explosions, and accidents; creating significant pressure on fire prevention and rescue efforts. The signing of this cooperation agreement is a suitable direction in the digital age, bringing practical and significant results that contribute to the ultimate goal of ensuring the lives, health, and safety of the people, preventing unfortunate fire and explosion incidents.

Deputy Minister Phan Tam instructed that VTC, with its spirit of continuous innovation and leveraging all its advantages and experience in digital education, must focus all resources and find effective ways to build attractive and easily accessible digital learning materials to effectively carry out propaganda work to raise awareness and skills of the people in fire prevention and rescue; VTC should continue to research and apply digital technology to further improve the quality of skills training, using the quality of training to deepen the cooperative relationship between the parties, and using this deep and effective cooperation to demonstrate the role of digital technology in all aspects of social life and open up more opportunities for cooperation in the future.

This signing marks the beginning of many collaborations in other fields, addressing the needs of all levels of government and digital technology businesses to better serve the people, for the people, with the people at the center, as the goal, driving force, and resource for sustainable national development, Deputy Minister Phan Tam emphasized.

This has yielded many encouraging results, creating a shift in awareness and action, especially among the leadership of agencies and organizations. The implementation of the dissemination of legal knowledge and fire prevention and rescue skills on the VTC digital platform, a collaboration between the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department and VTC Corporation, is one of the innovative ways to enhance fire prevention and firefighting knowledge and skills for the community.

At the signing ceremony, VTC Corporation organized the first experiential lesson on "Escape Skills in Case of Fire in Tube Houses," with engaging content that provided the most useful knowledge and skills for people of all generations.

Also within the framework of the program was the signing ceremony of a cooperation agreement on the implementation of a fire prevention and rescue awareness program for the people of Hoan Kiem District between VTC Corporation and the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District. This is the first locality in the country to benefit from the implementation of this program. Through this, it will serve as a basis for evaluating and improving training materials, aiming to maximize the effectiveness of the training program.

The program is scheduled to officially launch in July 2024, aiming to reach the entire population by 2024.

Leveraging its strengths in educational materials and games, VTC will bring agreed-upon training programs to the public. Courses are implemented on the digital training platform https://edu.vtc.vn and include 20 in-depth topics such as: Risks and harms of fire and explosions; Personal responsibility and fire prevention and control principles; Fire prevention in the home; Escape skills in various situations; Using fire extinguishers, nozzles, and hoses; First aid for victims; Drowning prevention; Fire prevention and rescue knowledge for students… The program content includes interactive lectures, simulated scenarios, and engaging, easy-to-understand tests, placing learners in real-life situations, combining learning and playing, helping to improve knowledge and skills in fire prevention and rescue, and applying them immediately to real life.
